If you drive a vehicle with very low clearance, be warned: you do have to drive across a dry-ish creek bed and it is not exactly smooth. My wife and I went on a Saturday between 1:30-3:00. When we arrived all 3 lanes were occupied. The …

Since everyone couldn’t be grown ups, the place was trashed and now is closed. If you are wanting to go to a public range, the closest one is in Carter County at Pond Mountain, near the lake. According to the Forestry website, it should be back open sometime in late 2020.

According to this article (https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2018/12/21/secretary-agriculture-perdue-details-usda-functions-event-lapse-federal-funding-government-shutdown/2393193002/) USDA Forest Service recreational facilities will shut down, so my guess is no range until they get it sorted in Washington. Might want to check with the Forest Service directly though.
It's a government park so I doubt it. Then again, it doesn't really require staff...
