I love going to this place once a year or so. A walk through here is like a timeline of Lee's Summit history, where you will see names you recognize from major streets in the area (Colburn, Skruggs, Blackwell) to famous names of the founders of the town (Pleasant Lea, William Howard). Already mentioned in other reviews are the Youngers. I like to stop and appreciate the unnamed people buried in the potter's field portion on the northeast portion of the cemetery. A walk through the cemetery to the west brings one in touch with more recent individuals--people you might have known, or read about in the papers. Overall the cemetery is kept in beautiful condition, and I am grateful that the city keeps it that way. It really is an icon of the area.

This is a nice little cemetery. I enjoy it when cemeteries have the self guided walking tour information, and the literature given here was nice. There are several beautiful and unusual graves, especially that of WT Chrismas. The Youngers of the famous James-Younger gang are also buried here, and people often leave offerings to them even today. Overall it's small and may not look like much, but completely worth the visit.
