staff were so friendly and helpful and kind! Went to the annual Hummingbird Festival for the first time. Was a fun time. The guy who was working in the air-conditioned indoor center was also so helpful and had a nice long chat with him about the things inside there and things to do in Independence. Was very interesting information that I did not know about KC geology. It was a very clean and peaceful place to walk on the trails. They had some native Perennials that the pollinators were hard at work on! Hummingbirds seemed to prefer the Sage (lovely blue flowers, never knew what they were before that day!) There are about 3 smallish lakes there. It was not stunning scenery overall but very peaceful and uncrowded. Will go again next year probably. Got some lovely photos

Everyone was so very friendly. Sadly, we were a little late in the day to see a huge number of hummingbirds. The Missouri Extension folks were very gracious and spent a lot of time with us explaining plants etc. Recommend!

Great trails, nature center and exhibits. Clean grounds. Hummingbird festival was great! Fun to watch experts explain about hummingbirds and complete catch, banding, and release of birds.

Hiked & photographed the paved trails & Hollow Stump loop trail on 10 September 2022. Natural setting with maintained glades, field, and paths. Easy hikes with beautiful scenery all along the way. Will definitely go back to hike the same and remainder of trails.

No. No bicycles are allowed on any of the parks trails.
No you cannot swim.
No, Anna. The crowds are too large and the space too small to be able to keep everyone safe.
No, it won't.
Can you really camp here? I was told that camping was for scout use only. If so, what is the fee?
Yes they are
They always hold the Enchanted Forest the 2 weekends before Halloween
That's just for the building and parking!

Nope, my grandson and I go all the time. Watch out the turtles, they like to steal your bait!
Kids under 12 do not but must be accompanied by a licensed fisherman, over that age pretty co fident that everyone needs a permit in Missouri.
Yes it cost 25.00 a night
Not sure but you can Google it. I did about public fishing and there are 2 small lakes there you can fish at and the fish do bite. My grandson loves it!
