Baron Ranch Trail is still closed. The Alisal Fire was fully contained on Nov. 20, 2021 and the trail is still closed. For those who wish to avoid the crowded trails in Santa Barbara, reopening Baron Ranch would be nice.

No dogs, even on leash. Hidden cameras along trail, which is pretty creepy.

Is Baron Ranch Trail STILL closed??? I hope it will open during spring as this is the most beautiful hike when the hills are covered in yellow flowers.

Hi Tanya, Yes, it is still closed. The bridge across the creek burned in the fire so we are working on getting that fixed. However, due to the possibility of rock slides and other issues during and after rain events our guess is that the trail will be closed until the rainy season ends.

Hi Rodger, As best we can tell, the plans are to open the trails after the rainy season. Work is being done now to get them open. The pedestrian bridge that was burned has been repaired. My guess is that an opening day sometime in May will be announced in a few weeks. The post-fire landscape is totally different from your last hike there. -- Mark
