New Park Ave and Stop and Shop

this store has changed quite a bit and seems to be detached in some areas, dont like to hear employees complaining while im shopping its supposed to be my safe place

Good morning. I went to Stop and Shop on New Park Ave in Hartford this week to purchase corn beef brisket that was on sale and this is the only time of year that you can purchase at sale price because this item is costly. There was none available so I did the normal by going to customer service to obtain a rain check for the item since they were sold out and when the item becomes available again I would be able to purchase at the sale price. I asked the representative if I could have a rain check for the corn beef brisket and she said, "Sure I can do that!" and just as she went to write this out for me a male employee, not sure if he was a manager stops her and tells her no the store isn't issuing rain checks for the brisket and he looks at me and tells me I can't get one and he apologizes! I hear the female rep ask him, "We're not giving out rain checks?" Because obviously this is a normal thing for customers if an item is sold out and he responded, "No way not at that price!" (REALLY SIR!) I said thank you and just walked out. Now maybe the state changed the rules for New Park Ave in Hartford but I find it very strange that I obtained a rain check the same day at another Stop and Shop location with no pressure also a relative of mine is front end supervisor at a different location that informed me that rain checks are given if a sale item is sold out and no different for the corn beef brisket at a limit of 2 flat cut and point cut. I visited Shoprite and they were also sold out and issued me a rain check with ease. I visited other locations just to see if I would have the same experience and I didn't.

This local Stop N’ Shop has much to offer- average prices, a variety of foods, lots of parking, and some good deals on store brand products (seltzer, pasta, cereal , etc). The produce is fresh. Sounds good, right? But we’re not done yet. Welcome to the hell of self-check out. While I already hate the idea of self-check out, I can live with it if it’s basically the only option and somewhat efficient. This store has (consistently) the worst self check out experience. The scales are sensitive. Breathe too heavily and the weighted scale system will flag you for having an unabagged item or something, leaving you to wait in the purgatory of the “needs assistance” red light system. The employees are great in clearing that up, but it happens so often it’s hard for them to keep up- wandering around- scanning their store cards to clear the cue for more customers to continue their check out process. Fix self Check out, please it’s awful and doesn’t work.

I did not like this store at all, but it's the closest from where I live and work when I need something quick. The front end service was horrible. The front end cdh or supervisor that was called over (Liz) had to be called over 5 times before she actually came over. And it wasn't even busy. She came over from laughing and giggling with another employee. And when she did come, she had a horrible attitude and asked "what". This isn't the first time I've come here and this has happened. The other times I've came here, it happened with Tanya as well. Most of the cashiers are really nice like big bird!!! 😊😊, and some of the carriage pushers are nice to me as well! I am a long time resident of hartford and I Hate to come on here and say this but I have to now. I have friends that come to this stop and shop and they have also complained of the same thing. If you don't like your job, or do not want to be there then please get another job where you do not have to face customers or people everyday. Because your people skills are NOT there!!
