Our father was in summersets care for about 9 months and we absolutely fell in love with the staff and fellow residents. What a wonderful feeling leaving each day knowing he was cared for like we wanted. He made so many friends. If your looking for a family oriented loving place to assist your loved one. You found it with Summerset

My father spent 9 months here before passing. It was the absolute best decision for his care due to the wonderful and caring staff as well as the deep friendships he developed. We will miss visiting him and his friends as everyone became part of our family! Thank you so much for loving our amazing Dad!

This is a wonderful care home. My uncle moved into the memory care unit at Summerset and my family was very stressed about how he would do, what it would be like, etc. From the beginning Summerset staff and management was AMAZING. They helped us (in the middle of a pandemic!) stay in touch with my uncle, and kept us up to date on his progress and well being. We went to visit him, and I saw first-hand that the residents were happy and cared for and genuinely enjoyed interacting with staff. My uncle was clean, happy and well taken care of - I am so thankful for this place and wish everyone could live out their golden years in a place like this!

This review is for the 2nd floor Memory Care Unit only. I moved my mom in there a little over 2 years ago. For the first year it was great. The last year has been less than exemplary. The Memory Care Unit became a revolving door of staff an management with no clear chain of command structure. Some of the staff there now look like they are only there to collect a paycheck and do not care about anything. If you have a complaint, it will go ignored no matter how many times you report it. My mom's room always had 5-10 layers of dust in it and always smelled like urine and sometimes feces. General maintenance requests will always be ignored. I repeatedly asked for a replacement room key for over 9 months and never got one. I waited for over a year and gave up on how to get a LAN line phone activated. They allow a resident to go out on the balcony unsupervised and smoke even though it's a non-smoking facility. The bad thing is that the smoke gets sucked into the AC units and goes right in everyone's rooms. You could actually see the smoke it was so thick in my mom's room. The mail system is the worst for Memory Care. The mail is not delivered to the residents. It is the family's responsibility to get the mail at the front desk but they do not tell you this until after a year of mail has piled up. But if you send a package, it goes up right away. Also someone confiscated my mom's cell phone and was keeping it with them in the med room. I found this out since an unknown person answered her phone one night and proceeded to argue with me on why they had the phone outside of my mom's room. There is NO communication from the staff on healthcare related issues. The only time you get a call is if they want money for something. Clothing will also end up missing since we know things are gone and she now has clothes that belong to other people. There was also a major security breach by letting outside people in to visit my mom which I explicitly told them not to let in. I know this since that person called me on my mom's cell phone. After move out, they failed to contact the pharmacy service to discontinue service. I got charged for items when she wasn't living there. This was fixed but after two days of being ignored. She was also enrolled on the podiatry service. Per the podiatry service, the staff is supposed to call them when the resident needs care. No care was provided for over 6 months and her feet looked terrible. I have moved her out of Summerset about a month ago. With her new care facility, I have learned more about her health and cognitive status in this month from them than I did with Summerset in 2 years. If you are looking for a Memory Care for your loved one, keep looking. You'll end up paying over $6,000 a month for terrible care.
