My mother was recently admitted and my brother and I found out aside of dehydration and a stroke, she suffers from dementia, which left my mother unable to care for herself. before she was discharged I was told she would have a nurse come and visit to help me with caring for my mother and help me get started on being her paid caregiver. along with other services she would be eligible for. I waited five days for a nurse to show up and no one ever arrived or did a follow up call. I will be reporting this in writing to the proper authorities., I have gone through so much stress getting the run around, just to get help for my mother; she is no longer able to care for herself. I spoke with the doctor's and the case manager about getting things set up and nothing has been done, to help or assist me in the right direction. I am overwhelmed and feel maybe if I was not a minority I would have receive the proper help. I really am confused at how things are done, when your loved one needs help after no longer being able to live independently.
