Awful experience terrible & was lied to by the sales person. Vivint & Sunrun scammed me with a lease program I had this installed & I’m not saving any money actually paying more then I was pseg. I also had a giant leak in my roof & couldn’t get anyone from the company to answer my phone calls regarding my leak. No one came out after days & days I had to hire my own roofer to come fix the leak caused by the solar panels. I wish I never met with the salesperson who knocked on my door terrible service all around. Don’t waste your time!

When we financed the solar system we were told about the state of the art micro inverters and how if one went down the Vivint monitoring team would be on it right away and call to schedule service. This is not true. They also told me that I would have access to see how each panel was performing online. This was not true. We received a large PSE&G bill in July when we should be banking electric. I logged into the app to learn that the system has been under performing since early May. The technician showed me on his phone how 11 micro inverters were down 11! Had I not called when would you have reached out Vivint? Now i'm paying Loan Pal and PSE&G and Vivint Customer Service in Asia tell me that there is nothing they can do. Buyer beware!

We have had Vivint panels for about 6 years, we are currently experiencing a leak around one of the screws from the panel. It is damaging our upstairs bathroom. We have a roofing company prepared to replace our roof but Vivint is not cooperating with a timely removal. We paid $500 to Vivint to have panels temporarily removed but they won’t come until another 3 months. So in the meantime I have to have water running into my bathroom every time it rains. This situation is absurd and I feel so let down and disrespected by this company. My husband and I are hard working, honest people who have always paid our bill on time. We are so frustrated and disappointed by the current situation. Vivint should compensate us for the damage and I honestly do not want them to damage the new roof. This is a violation of the good faith we agreed upon in this contract.

What is the warranty on the solar energy system and how long will it last?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

Our warranty guarantees our work will be free from material defects for 10 years, the system's solar panels carry a 25-year linear performance warranty, and inverters carry minimum 10-year manufacturers' warranties.

Do the solar panels degrade over time?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

Yes, slightly. Due to sun exposure, weather and other environmental factors, there’s a potential degradation rate of 2.5% the first year the panels are on your roof, and 0.7% per year during the rest of the 20 year term. Most of our panels degrade at a rate lower than this, but we guarantee that they won’t degrade more than the above amount.

Will solar panels cause my roof to deteriorate?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

No. Our solar panels are not attached directly to your roof, but rather to a racking system that has been wind, water, and fire tested to ensure no leaks or damage will occur. Additionally, shingles on your roof will often last longer under installed panels because they are less exposed to UV light.

What’s the difference between a PPA (power purchase agreement) and lease?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

Solar PPA customers pay for all of the energy a system produces, regardless of their individual usage. Solar Lease customers pay a fixed payment based on the expected annual output of the solar energy system.

What happens to the solar panels at the end of the contract?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

You have a few options once your contract is up. If you are a Solar PPA or Solar Lease customer, you can renew your contract for an additional five years, purchase the solar system for fair market value, or request that the system be removed (at no additional cost). If you are a Solar Loan or Solar Purchase customer, your contract with Vivint Solar ends when the system is installed and operational.

Aren't solar panels expensive?

Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019
Bryan Caplan | Sep 17, 2019

Not necessarily. At Vivint Solar, we install the solar panels at little to no upfront cost, and our Solar PPA customers typically buy electricity from us at a lower rate (see our website for details) than their utilities. We also sell systems at competitive prices, and have relationships that can help you finance the purchase.

Hi my question is do you also sell Solar generaters?

Holly Winters | Sep 17, 2019

Our company does that have them yet
