Just Mind Counseling is awesome, warm and welcoming from the beginning to the end. My therapist was perfect for me and really helped me get on track - I highly recommend Just Mind Counseling.

Nothing but great things to say about Just Mind Counseling and their team! The team of counselors and admin truly do a phenomenal job.

I'm a therapist located in the Bay Area. The Bay Area has experienced a massive migration of folks from here moving to Texas (to follow tech as more companies headquarter there) and I'm very often in need of making referrals to trusted clinicians in Texas who can see high-functioning Bay Area clients. I can't even count the number of times I've referred clients ot Just Mind in Austin. I know that every time I do, they'll have a wonderful experience since the owners - William and Terry - have curated a top notch group of clinicians, including EMDR clinicians. I can't say enough positive things about Just Mind and consider them my go to therapy resource in all of Texas.

A great experience from the begining. The website is great and made it easy to find the counselor and easy to schedule. I love that the counselor is actually located here so I know they are someone who understands the nuances of living here (vs. someone at BetterHelp or Talkspace that might be anywhere in the country).

We take Whole Foods Insurance, and clients from Flatwater Foundation. (Flatwater helps people affected by cancer who could not afford counseling on their own.) You may also have an option to do “single case agreements” through your insurance company. What is a single case agreement? It’s an agreement between your insurance company and our mental health practice that will allow you to pick any therapist and it will be similar to your in network cost wise as the insurance company pays the difference. You will just have to let them know you have had a hard time finding an in network provider and that our practice has a specialist that can help you. We can’t request this but you can if you have had difficulty finding someone to help you while using your benefits. Finally, you can also use your out of network benefits. Tools like Reimbursify can make this easier for you.
Good question, the rates vary depending on years of experience and training (psychologists cost more). As of 2022, our rates on the website are currently $125-195 for individual ongoing therapy. If you need to utilize insurance, we can check your out of network benefits to see if that might also be helpful. Better.co can file your claims on your behalf automatically and many out of network clients utilize that to make full use of their benefits. *For those needing a sliding scale, we do also offer that based on documented economic hardship.
Great question. Unfortunately we do not. I would suggest checking out this page of our website as it lots options that take Medicaid. https://www.google.com/amp/s/justmind.org/affordable-counseling-in-austin/%3Famp
Great questions! We don’t take UMR but we do have several Spanish speaking therapists.
Just Mind does not offer anger management classes. Several therapists work with anger management as a specialty issue in their counseling with individuals.
Great question. Our scheduling team is available for regular business hours during the week (8-5pm). Inquiries are responded to as soon as we can but often this means we may have to email or call you back as there is not always someone immediately available. We do make an effort to respond quickly however but we suggest you look at other options if you are in crisis.
Therapists see clients from 9am till 9pm Monday through Friday and 9am till 8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Each therapist has a different schedule and availability. Our scheduling team will let you know of available options and who is the best fit.
We are located on Spicewood Springs in between Mesa Drive and Loop 360. Our exact address is 4807 Spicewood Springs Road, Bldg 1, #1140, Austin, TX 78759. We are across from the new Austin Board of Realtors building.
Our matching is done by our scheduling team who all have gone to school and received a degree in counseling. They listen to your to your needs and match that against our therapist availability, your schedule, and your payment or insurance preferences. It's a bit of a puzzle but we try to give you the best options available options and the information you need to make an informed choice.
This really varies by the individual and the issue. Some people have issues that are more tricky and developed over time and these issues might take more time to work on. That said, if you are motivated, work on coping skills outside of session, and are focused on your goals you may have a very short time in therapy. Normally the shortest time tends to be around 2-6 months of weekly therapy. It really depends on the issue and the individual.
Yes, we do and we use a HIPAA compliant system to meet rigorous privacy and security standards.
Just Mind does not have free counseling but this is a resource list that can help you: https://justmind.org/affordable-counseling-in-austin/
Great question Vannah. At this time Just Mind does not accept Tricare. Just Mind takes Whole Foods, Flatwater Foundation (free for those affected by cancer), and private pay rates.
That is something we can help with. All you need to do is fill out our signup form and we can let you know options that are currently available. https://justmind.org/new-client-signup/
If it's not a good fit with your therapist, let us know and we will pair you with another therapist. This happens sometimes and it's important for you to feel like you trust your therapist and have good rapport with them. Therapists have different styles and approaches. One person may appreciate a therapist who is more direct/blunt in their delivery of truth where as others may prefer someone who is more warm, supportive, and delicate in their approach. Theoretical lenses and approaches vary by therapist as well. Our scheduling team all has background in therapy and they go to our owners (both therapists) with questions to try and make sure we pair you correctly. So, if it's not a fit, just let us know and we will evaluate what didn't feel right about it and work to get you in with a better fit.
An LPC Intern is a therapist who has completed their masters degree (which includes clinical time) and they are now seeing clients and have a supervisor that guides their growth and experience. School for LPC Interns is normally a 3 year process. LMFT-A (licensed marriage and family therapists associates) are in a similar period of their professional growth. Research shows that a key to getting better is how much of a rapport you feel with your therapist. I would use this as a tool to evaluate the rightness of fit. If for any reason with any therapist you don't feel it is the right fit, let us know and we will pair you with another therapist as we want you to feel supported and happy with your therapist.

We look at presenting issues, therapist background, availability, and fees to try and put it all together in the best pairing possible for people. This varies by the issue addressed. We offer single session therapy for people wanting to come for one session and specifically focus on that one issue. That said, if something is a bigger issue that developed over time, it can take some time to work through that issue.
Senior therapists have over 10 years of experience (some have 30+). Mid level therapists have 6-10. Junior therapists have 2-5 years of experience. Each level of therapist has different fee ranges associated with them. (We also suggest you take a look at their advanced trainings and backgrounds.)
No, we do not take Medicaid. If you google "affordable counseling austin" you will see a blog we put together of options in Austin and this includes options that take Medicaid. Just scan through it and you will see options. You can also go on our website and search for this term and find the blog post on this topic.
We do not prescribe medication at this point in time.
I would suggest arriving 10 minutes early. If you have answered the questions on our online signup, this is fine for the majority of our therapists. A few might have a few more questions for you, but they will not require that you bring any additional information with you.

Currently we do not offer assessments.
Cash pay rates vary by the clinician. Our individual counseling rates for junior therapists are $100 per hour and have 2-5 years of experience, mid-level therapists are $115 per hour and have 5-10 years of experience, and senior therapist are $130 per hour and have over 10 years of experience. Couples rates vary by the therapist but tend to be $10 more per session. Our scheduling team will let you know the exact rate prior to selecting your therapist.
