I understand some therapists just aren't a good match, but I think there's a serious problem with having therapists at your practice who demonize certain mental health disorders. Literally every single person who treated me poorly throughout the course of my life was said to have a different cluster b PD (this is not an exaggeration, by the end she had said someone had ASPD, another had BPD, and another was NPD). I'd try to say I didn't think that was the case each time, it kept going on. Stigma isn't cool! Not to mention oddly diagnosing people you've never met is bizarre, and the focus should be on figuring out what's going on with the client. Little to no input was given on how to help any of the issues I was facing, I just recapped my life over the course of eight sessions, and then was immediately invalidated when I tried to bring up literally anything beyond basic anxiety/depression symptoms. I wouldn't call that very "trauma informed."

Therapy Austin is wonderful place to take your first step to "Self Actualization". We can only heal if we know our own true nature. The therapists here realize that and are very adept at helping a person navigate the path to peace, understanding, and love of your self. A person is only capable of loving others only if they accept themselves - both the light and dark side . I am so impressed with the guidance these therapist give a client in achieving that goal. Bravo to Therapy Austin.

Hi Shannon, we do not accept Medicare, but we absolutely do work with older patients suffering from grief and depression. We provide services for as low as $85 a session, and we can also provide materials that can be submitted to some insurance providers for reimbursement. Please don't hesitate to fill out a request form on our website if you would like to be matched with a counselor!
Therapy Austin offers sliding scale, but does not accept insurance. To request an appointment, go to www.therapyaustin.com and complete the request form.
Hi Denise, Unfortunately, we cannot offer free counseling. Some good places to check out are Capital Area Mental Health, Samaritan Counseling Center Austin, the YWCA and LifeWorks. You can also try calling 311 for area referrals. Warmly, Danielle
Unfortunately we do not offer anger management classes at Therapy Austin. We do offer individual, couple and family therapy, and many of our therapists are quite skilled and experienced in working with anger. I hope this helps!
