Quick and very friendly. Made an appointment to for renewal of my driver's license and made sure to bring all the necessary documents and I was in and out in under 10 minutes.

Very fair. Got their for my 8am appt. But forgot confirmation number. Fellow at front desk gave me wait number. I thought I would be there all day waiting. 5 minutes later I was called and the lady at the licensing desk was polite and efficient. 12 minutes later my license was renewed. My Gawd! The pic is a horror. Pink faced old dude I am. But was out of there in no time and everyone was polite and efficient. Great experience. Those folks should be proud of their DMV.

Waited 2 hours outside only to be told how they were short staffed and were starting their lunch rotation. They said they couldn't keep up with the appointments much less the walk-ins. I was told appointments were booked into September. I needed a simple address change with duplicate. I have had trouble doing it online thus far but I will definitely try it again. And it's always slow there, short staffed or not.

If you have an appointment it doesn't take long if you don't you will be there for a while , you don't have to but recommend having an appointment.
Real ID's are optional. Real IDs are required if you travel by airplane, visit Military bases, or if you plan to go into Federal buildings. This law will be effective October 2020.

I believe you do but a lot of folks who got there early the other day had a chance. If you get there around 7:30 am you'll be at the front of the line when they open at 8. They may tell you to wait in waiting room and give you a number. If you get there later you won't get a low number and you can wait all day and not get picked. Get there early and plz. Be patient. It worked 4 me. Hope this helps. And I'm talking Kernersville DMV. don't know what others are like.

They do but it will be a temp driving cert.. With no picture... Although you can wait in line a get a full DL with a picture

You can renew it online for up to 2 years in most cases. Even expired ones. Much easier than waiting in the awful line.
