I stop by DMV in order to renew my CDL A. They told me that I will need a DOT certificate. So I did a quick search on line and found out Southside Chiropractor Car Injury Clinic was the place to go. Dr. Matthew let me in on a busy day which I’m very greatfull for!!

I honestly really appreciate the staff and services at this place. I came in with severe neck and back pain and was barely able to hold my own head up. I had deep burning pain in my neck and shoulder area and nerve pain down my legs. I won’t say I’m cured because I’m doing ongoing treatment but I’m definitely much better off than I was coming in. My mobility has increased and a lot of the effects from the car accident have been helped. The atmosphere is very calming/soothing and the staff are very attentive. Dr. Lowery is everything you’d want your chiropractor or be. He’s empathetic, knowledgeable, and shows he cares about your progress. I appreciate them being very flexible with my schedule as well. Kudos to the Dr and staff at this place, thank you for all you’ve done so far!!

DOT physicals are required before you receive your CDL license. They must be filed as part of your CDL application. Additionally, you will need to receive a DOT physical biennially (every two years) for as long as you hold the license. If you have more questions about what is included in a DOT physical or how to prepare, contact Southside Chiropractic Car Injury Clinic. We are happy to help you pass this important hurdle on the way to your commercial driver’s license.
A DOT physical covers many things. The medical examiner will discuss your medical history, take your vital signs, and do a physical examination. The physical is designed to ensure that you can safely operate your vehicle. The physical examination will likely include Your general appearance Checking your eyes, ears, mouth, throat, heart, lungs, back, and spine. Test your nervous system. Look at your extremities. Check for any hernias. Complete a urine analysis. These check blood, sugar, and protein levels.
Yes. A medical examiner does not just mean a medical doctor. The term has been expanded to include Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), doctors of osteopathy (DO), physician assistants (PA), and advanced practice nurses (APN). To be a qualified medical examiner for the DOT physical, the practitioner must be listed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration National Registry. They must also be familiar with the qualifications of the DOT physical. At Southside Chiropractic Car Injury Clinic, we are certified to provide DOT physical examinations.
State requirements for DOT medical cards vary. In Florida, all drivers applying for a CDL must have a DOT medical card for non-excepted interstate and non-excepted intrastate travel. If you do interstate driving, you will need to check the DOT requirements of all the states you will be traveling through. As a base, interstate drivers need a DOT medical card if The gross vehicle weight, gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight, or gross combination weight rating exceeds 10,001 pounds. The vehicle is meant to transport more than fifteen people or more than eight for those receiving direct compensation. The vehicle is transporting hazardous materials.
DOT stands for the Department of Transportation. A DOT physical is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Essentially, it is a physical that all commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are required to take. If you want to be a CMV driver or maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL), you have to have a DOT physical. At the end of your physical, if you pass, you will receive a medical DOT card. This is documentation stating that you have been examined and passed by a qualified medical examiner. DOT medical cards are also called Medical Examiner’s Certificates.

Cold laser therapy is a new, revolutionary treatment option that helps alleviate pain and improve the healing process by using our specific 30 watt Class IV laser to help reach deep tissues of the spine and other injured areas. We are one of the only clinics in Jacksonville that are utilizing a 30-watt laser in which research has shown to improve healing much more efficiently compared to the lower powered lasers. Our cold laser can also treat other muscle and joint issues, such as shoulder pain, elbow pain, knee pain, etc.
Laser therapy may not be covered by insurance plans. If insurance does not cover the cost of treatments, there are affordable payment plans available. Check with your insurance company to see if laser therapy is covered under your plan.
Depending on your condition, most patients are able to continue their normal daily activity after leaving the clinic. At times it is suggested that the patient take some time to allow for the tissues to heal properly if the injury is new and acute. If the condition is a chronic condition, most patients can presume normal daily activity.
Most patients notice a warm, often soothing feeling. There is no pain associated with a treatment. Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment option that is painless and effective. Patients can feel an immediate change in symptoms and may experience slight warming sensation for a small amount of time after treatment.
Depending on your specific condition, treatment times for laser therapy are in between 5-10 minutes on average. We use one of the best cold lasers on the market so we can effectively treat your pain, or condition in quicker and more accurately.
Laser therapy can help by providing positive pain relief by using no drugs and quick treatment times to heal injured tissues. Laser therapy is effective in treating acute and chronic pain symptoms, as well as new injuries. Laser therapy helps by stimulation cells to improve the healing process, control pain, improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, improve stiffness, and improve blood flow. Many conditions show signs of improvement after a few treatments.
Decompression therapy is a specific treatment technique that helps alleviate pain, Spinal disc issues, such as bulging or herniated discs, chronic spinal issues, and osteoarthritis of the spine, also known as degenerative joint disease. Decompression therapy is a technique that the patient lies down in a comfortable position and a computerized table will help stretch and open up the spinal joints to help decompress and hydrate the spinal discs to alleviate pain and inflammation on the nerves. One of the most effective treatment options for back problems that helps prevent the need for surgery.

When seeking a claim from an insurance provider to cover medical bills and loss of wages, documentation is the key to filing a successful claim. Poor documentation that doesn’t detail the smallest details, especially for soft tissue damage, could make the difference between receiving compensation and reimbursement from an auto insurance company.
In the state of Florida, individuals injured in a car accident only have 14 days to seek medical treatment. Otherwise, they may not be able to collect PIP or additional compensation from their auto insurance. While some injuries such as whiplash or lower back pain may present symptoms within a few days from the auto accident, other injuries may not be immediately present. Some trauma may not be felt for several weeks or even months after a car accident. A victim who did not seek a proper medical examination within two weeks may lose their ability to make a claim against the insurance company.
The clinic is open on Fridays by appointment only. You can contact our office to make an appointment.
