We just saw them driving around the Shoprite parking lot. Its nice to see them out and taking an active interest. So many times, I have parked and saw poor dogs locked in cars on hot days like this. I swore that the next one I saw, I was going to break their car window. Knowing that the SPCA is around, Ill give them a call first.

If you have any questions or answers ask for detective Ross sorry to put you on the spot Mr Ross, but the detective was such a stand up dude and he understands how you feel with your frustration of animal law or either surrender a stray cat or dog you happen to find, he will help you contact the rite place to get the stray animal a home and he sure went to school and know his laws a man who take pride in his profession 2 👍 for detective Ross ty

THIS IS THE PUTNAM COUNTY SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, ENFORCEMENT (THE SPECIALLY TRAINED POLICING AGENCY THAT RESPONDS TO REPORTS OF ANIMAL ABUSE). NOT THE ANIMAL SHELTER. The only connection is that both are funded by the same county office & there's a good chance, that if the Officers who worked here were to find a neglected dor or cat, it would end up in the shelter. Think of the Putnam County SPCA like the NYC MTA. A city bus driver and a Metro North Train conductor both receive paychecks from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, but that train conductor isn't the one to ask about bus service- two very different departments. Also along those lines, the ASPCA and a local SPCA like the PC SPCA are also not necessarily related in any way. FOR THE SPCA HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER: No, they don't. In fact the (not so optional) recommended donation upon adoption is to cover the early veterinary expenses like immunizations and neutering.
I would start by looking up the Humane Society- the loosely related organization that runs the shelter- since the SPCA is an organization with multiple departments, and this listing happens to be for the Animal Welfare Enforcing agency. The people who respond to reports of endangered, poorly treated or malnourished animals.
