Really cool place, I was really surprised that a lot of the demonstrations were already closed for the season on Labor Day weekend. Our kids loved it and the history is very interesting.

What classes are being g held this summer

Hi Carol, This summer we have a selection of classes being offered. We have Shaker Foodways, which are daily from July 1st to August 2nd at 2 pm. A cooking class is being held on August 4th at 4 pm. We are offering a photography workshop on August 10th from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. On July 20th and August 10th at 8 pm we also have a Vino Vinyasa Sunset Yoga class. Goat Yoga is on July 27 and August 25 at 10 am. Lastly, there is one session of Art on the Farm from July 15-19, and two sessions of Summer on the Farm from July 22-26 and July 29-August 2.

I recommend talking to museum staff, they seem helpful. Some members did join the Shakers after marriage, even after having children according to the docents who gave tours. They did not live as if they were married, as I understand.
