Like all government building this place is very slow. Case managers once your assigned to VW will help as little as they can. One case manager, ML , will help you at the very minimal. A lot of times you will be questioned on if your telling the truth or not, AND be given attitude when you voice your concerns. Government assistance should really do a better job at being understanding and not judgemental because EVERYONE who comes here is struggling and having people be so rude and judgmental is like a smack in the face to those people who need help. Every single worker in VW has a place to go home to which is the opposite for their clients so having the attitude and disrespect makes a lot of people uncomfortable asking for help or coming in. Do better

Very Bad experience . It’s this one lady (MS Wallace ) I will definitely report her or spread the word . She is very rude and you can tell she does not at about your situation like she needs to definitely work somewhere else I feel bad for some families who run across this lady… Beware her attitude shows she does not want to help as long as they pay her she will always be disrespectful she lucky I don’t pull up with cameras because I’ll have your job on how she spoke to me and no I was so calm as a matter fact I was crying because she was no help but this I regret even going to this program I shows a lot on how those workers treat you

Virginia Williams center is a dirty nasty organization With dirty evil staff
Everyone's situation is different..but contact the Washington legal clinic 4 the homeless 2 inquire about ur situation. They will direct u from there. Good luck
Technically your not homeless
They don't help you if you don't have a kid
And it's crazy cuz I'm in the streets now with no direction with a two year old.virginia willams and they hot line is no use.. honestly!
Have all your documents with u and the earlier you go the better but be prepared to be there for some hours....by documents I mean birth certificates social security cards for you and your children, proof of residency so you want to bring your utility bill or your students enrollment forms for school, your ID..most importantly though no matter how much you need help if you're not a DC resident they cannot help you so make sure you have a form of DC residencyalso if you are homeless you need at least two letters from somebody stating that you are homeless so you want to give a letter written saying that you and your children are homeless and you're staying from pillar-to-post whoever house you're staying at you want to write a letter with saying that you are staying there but you can't stay there long you only have a week or whatever to stay there
Yes they will help and they will send you wherever they have availability
They consider anything over 30 days is stable housing...you will need to be about to be kicked out with 30days to move(if you have child(ren) they will move "a little" faster. If you stay with someone have them write a letter saying that you(your full name) have 30 daughters to vacate my house(if toy have child(ren) have them in that letter as well
They never answer they be so busy ur best bet is to go up their
Then I would leave a message on line you would have to go to there website who ever is hanging up on you just don't want to do there job and a supervisor contact info is someone in charge I hope this helps
Once you are a resident of the program that's actually that's a leg up on apt placement
I'm sure the can help you get utility assistance
No they will respect you as much as you respect them. They will help you if you is homeless moving home to home also if you not on a lease they'll help to
The process time depends on your need and if you have provided all require documentation.
I would talk to your case manager and see what the process is to have him removed.
You basically have to be homeless in Dc. You cant have no other benefits in any other state but dc.
Yes, only if he is listed as the father on your child’s birth certificate...or you guys are married
From what I understand yes but call and double check
You would have to basically be completly homeless but i say go down and try bring a letter from the head of house hold with their contact info saying you can't stay they will call to check they will then set u up with a homeless prevention specialist... It took me 2yrs
Yes they will help you. You'll be surprised by what they can do
I think you should contact them to see for sure. I don't know if they help people who are not homeless.
Virginia Williams is more like a referrals program. They have only help me reach out to other program for homelessness. They ask you for rental history for the last two years if you work if you get benefits etc.
Mom and kids. Possibly family
It's before metro pcs with the blue tents on top of the building
First you have to be homeless, they're gonna place you in a shelter, hotel, or transitional home till they help you get a voucher. This process takes awhile sometimes. Hopefully this will help you.
You will have to prove DC residency or if you are staying with someone in DC they will have to show proof they live in DC
I'm sorry that that happens to you cause my mom and dad was going through this and we just got in a shelter and to answer your question cause they don't want to see anybody get help they want to see people fail
I agree...if he did his time they will help him get training/ job while you're pregnant and you to can get training they will probably give your case to Power it's a program that allows a vendor(someone with money who wants to help you) they will pay for your classes. They are located on Eye St NW..tell them you homeless..(even if you stay within someone you homeless cause its NOT your house. 2 if toy stay with someone they will need to write toy a letter saying (who when where how what....ex..you children(one on the way) if that your are still with) ) where do you stay how long you allowed to stay there anything over 30 days Virginia Williams considered stable housing so if you move in with someone say example an aunt or cousin or cousin needs to write you a letter stating that you your husband and your two kids are staying with you for a certain amount of time and then y'all need to vacate
You need a letter,of why your homeless.that would be proof for u,beside social security card and birthday.
Turned away 3 Times
Thanks. I can't see myself on the streets with a new baby
Virginia Williams will not allow you to move forward without id and birth certificate. As Ms Watkins started, their are agency that will assist you if you have accurate in formation. I would start by going to SSI and obtaining a ssi card. Explain you lost everything and they may assist as long as your data is accurate. It will be a challenge if you have no proof of your identity. You can get certified medical records, ssi card, school id, medical card. Find something to prove who you are otherwise it will be a challenge to obtain assistance.
Where do I find a place that will put us in a hotel room because I have a whole family and just a regular shelter isn’t gonna workout for us
I guess it all depends on your needs. Like there are different requirements for different people that makes the housing placement more urgent than the next
Virginia Williams is for families only
No. They only help with homeless families placement and ERAP when the resources are available.
You would have to go down their with proof of eviction as well as health problems u have to go super early because youll be sitting all day but you should have went as soon as you found out they would be putting her out if she has no other place to go like family then they will assign her a homeless prevention specialist even if they just put her in a temp. Place eventually they will help find her a permanent place
Try doing it through your landlord and inform Virginia Williams of the changes as well.
You'll need documentation of your last address, as well as documentation of the eviction. They make it a way more challenging process than it should be :(
Only if you been in DC for 30 days. Can you be in the program.
They will need to visit the center to find out...
They will assign you with a homeless prevention specialist if that most ppl they do nothing for just give you the run around...byt basically you have to sleeping on the street before they jump to do anything
Do you help with a person disability and homeless to get into the program
Yes
No
Yes but good luck even ppl that live in DC has a hard time getting help from them it took me 2 yrs before they lift a finger to help me and I was pregnant in a domestic violence situation with 2 other children...dont believe me check out the reviews and questions
If that person isnt on the lease then , tell them to leave If the person is on the lease you have to go through court process
It depends on everyone's situation if they will help or not. They try to house families other places first, before they send them to a motel. U will find out, if they decide to help after your assessment.
Yes they will help you its open from Monday thew Thursday
Virginia Williams Resource Center will help with rental assistance and if homeless especially single families will give you a case worker that will help you work towards getting a place to live if qualifies I am not sure of your question but it sound like you are asking how to get you childs father on the lease or on the homeless program at Virginia Williams... If so then you may have to let your case worker decide, if you do have a case worker or if you already has a place add him to your lease
You have to go to Maryland housing authority and apply for there programs
No. U have 2 be a DC resident. MD and Va etc have their own places 2 go for help
