As a general DMV experience there is room for improvement. Appointments are nearly meaningless, queueing is a disaster, and what you need to do is unclear. For example, the 6 point requirements advertised is not followed by the staff. A passport (4 pts) and license (3 points) was not enough, with no explanation. They will make up the requirements to turn you away. I suggest bringing literally everything on the list. The staff was not helpful at best and rude at worst-one staff member made unprofessional remarks to the general public about my child throwing a tantrum.

Went to this DMV since it’s known to be faster than others, but the lady at the counter was rude. I don’t remember her name but she gave me a hard time with the documents that I used for proof of address. She didn’t want to give me a Real ID and told me, “ you don’t need to get one now anyway since the extension was moved to 2024.” I don’t understand the need to be rude and difficult when you’re just trying to update your legal documents.

Due to pandemic I've been to 6 DMV agencies. In the other 5 agencies I had the pleasure of being helped by the kindest and most polite people. Then I went to this horrible place! There I got to meet the rudest person that I have ever meet in my entire life!!!!!! Signage was not clear and instead of helping he just belittled me. Some people need to go live in isolation since they are so utterly miserable!! Don't work with people if you are an ogre! Do yourself a favor and go to any other location!!!

I was discriminated against in this place . Trying to renew my license and followed the 6 points that is required and still not good enough. They were rude and wouldn’t except anything. I had everything that was required the cop even told me to leave because I was holding up the line. Since when does social card, utility , bank , marriage certificate and birth not good enough. Don’t bother getting a that ridiculous real ID get a passport and just renew by mail. They also said since my husband name is on my bill along with mine is not acceptable. I honestly don’t feel comfortable that they have all my private information.

How about if you have no insurance on vehicle
Expired Drivers License, utility bill, social security , school id , health insurance card . Its pretty easy to put together. You can Also View on the website.
Does NJ DVR have the new licenses with the star that is acceptable to get your through security at the airport? NJ did not have them when the other states did before COVID. I don’t want to use my passport all the time! Thank you 😊
Toni, go on Oakland motor vehicle website. Find your specific need, secure your necessary documents, print the necessary form, fill it out before you go... And your motor vehicle experience will be absolutely lovely.
There are more than a hundred forms easily accessible on the NJDMV website. Simply find the one is it applicable to your situation.
Check everyday on the website just keep checking. Sometimes it comes available the same day. Don't just go to the one near you . Choose anything if not you will have to wait month or month so check daily .
Oakland is not doing titles or registration
Where can I update my address. I did already online but I need my docs with new address
I have been to Oakland to renew quite a few times. I never waited more than 20 minutes. Best time was 5 minutes, seriously. Middle of month is optimal, never go the 1st or last week of the month. Good luck. Maybe it's because of the new Real ID?
They close at the dmv in oakland new jersey at 4:30pm.
11.00 if you don't have to renew. 24.00 if you have basic license up for renewal
Oakland doesn't process lien releases. You need a vehicle center
You probably transferred the plates after the renewal form was printed. As long as you have a valid registration for you present vehicle. I wouldn't worry
Box outside to drop plates, receipt will be mailed to you
Yes
But only with an appointment
Try at midnight, and be willing to go wherever there is an appt
They won't let anyone in without an appointment, and if your name isn't on the registration, you would need a notorized authorization letter. Better to just do online
Yes, you need an appointment for ANYTHING you think you need to do in person. Best advice... is see if you can do what you need done online. You will be able to do at least 90% of what you need online.
Best time to try is just after midnight.... Thats when all new appointments open up....
Yes
You can't get a duplicate in any agency. You need to order it online only
You have to make an appointment to get the permit, before he can take any tests, he would need knowledge test, if he didn't pass in school. Eye test, and once those 2 are passed, he will be scheduled for a road test.
Yes they do. Go online to there website the make an appointment.
You can get an appointment in Oakland now for real ID and then they mail it to you
Oakland n.j. except walk in for simple thing you be in and out .
No check the web site ok
I have No idea my dear you gotta call
I think you can just drop them in the box
No, there's a drop box outside in the lobby
I made an appointment for I believe the 21 and I can't find it when I try looking for it they send me a date for last week but it was the right date so I'm following up to see but this is wow too long of a wait.
8am m-f
I highly recommend attempting to renew your license online first. If you cant, yes, oakland is a licensing center
Yes
Yes
They have a box right outside of the entrance in the mall to drop off your plates , by the motor vehicle door
You have to go in person to the wayne location, and stand in line. Or try to make an appointment. Which is very difficult at this time
Yes. The only people that can walk up our first time license, In other words you passed your road test but now you just need to get your actual license
No. First time licenses are the exception to the appointment rule. Or at least they were as of last week. All you need to do is show up and they will take you before most of the rest of the line
When I was there last week they were only doing licenses for new drivers and people with appointments
No walk in appointments only
Not a lawyer, but, no. You friend must sign properly then he must cross out improper use and initial and date. Then the buyer must also initial and date cross-outs and fill in his/her/its info properly. And it may not be accepted. Tell you friend, "Measure twice, cut once".
This location didn't do transfer of registration either, only license. Find a location that does "vehicles", and yes, best to make an appointment.
Yep
Oakland location is a perfect place but you need to make an appointment. Be a least 18, have basic nj driver's license (class D), have 20/40 vision in each eye with without glasses, be able to recognize red, green ,and amber colors, be physically fit. Cost of 4 year CDL is $42 and $2 for each endorsement.
Better to take appointment since work will be done way faster. Centers which indicate walk in also don't process license transfers without appointment, not sure first time but am thinking same will apply. Also, lines at all dmvs are too long, and the number of tickets given per day is limited. I went in multiple times at 6 AM and never got a ticket for that day
Yes does state ID and license

Good luck!
you have two options • Visit a motor vehicle agency to surrender the plates. if you visit a motor vehicle agency to surrender plates no longer in use, please advise agency staff located at the greeter desk to assist you. The MVC does not accept out-of-state plates, License plates from other states must be returned to the state that issued the plates. • License plates cannot be surrendered at Inspection Stations • Note: Make sure you receive a receipt. It will serve as proof that the plates were surrendered in the event that charges are wrongfully acquired on them. Send by mail to: New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission PO Box 129 Trenton, New Jersey 08666-0129 • Note: You must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope in order to receive a receipt once you surrender your plates by mail. You will need to save this receipt. It will serve as proof that the plates were surrendered in the event that charges are rmnafulheasirad on them
Yes, before you apply for a learner permit, you can take the written test through the DMV Online Knowledge Test Application (OKTA) program. The test is given at participating high schools across New York State. Students who fail the test can take it again online as many times as the school allows.
Not too bad. 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting in line outside before they opened. Inside was fairly quick and organized.
I believe that's the max you can do there for now, for new plates and new registration you will need to go to another dmv
Seemed like it when I was there
Come back again and show everything and two more mailed to you address with your name(credit card or bank, water or cable)and check and Real Id. U can't use this to travel.
No
I belive they're not doing anything with vehicle services but give them a call to double check
I believe that they have special time for seniors I think it's either Wednesday or Friday.
The car company that you lease the car should set that up for you.
Be there early morning not after 9 because they take number of people and stop don't take again, and you will spend long time there
As executor you are authorized to sign the title. When it comes time to title it there is a box for gifts
You can get it in Oakland. I was just there Friday, they were taking new drivers who had passed the road test elsewher, and they were taking them first before any renewals.
I saw a sign on the oakland motor vehicle that says driver's license renewal only.
https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/license/nondriverid.htm
Yes very much so. I went last Monday .I arrived at 11:30am. They didn't get to me til 4:15pm. They were extremely rude to me. I just wanted to renew my driver's license and get out of there. It was so awefull.
https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/license/6pointid.htm
Yes you can you should go inside even if there is a line they will allow you to drop them off.
There is an address online. I overnighted mine Friday.
Can it be done on-line or in person at the DMV facility?
I think so, the only thing I know they don't do are plates and registrations.
No they do not. I believe Paterson is the closest one to go to.
Go online and see if you qualify for "skip the trip " I unfortunately didn't and had to go to the DMV.
No, only licenses
I would call and ask.
Registration and plates at Wallington, Newton and The Orange Office in Newark.
You can pay it online: njmvc.gov Oh and Wayne isn't open for restorations, yet.....
Probably...just try it.
You have to go to the njmvc.com website to find out if you are eligible for online renewal. Other than that, only real ID has appointments
Only for people who can not renew online
Drive up, take a ticket at the booth, bring your license, registration and insurance. And be prepared to wait. There is a backlog of 3 months right now. Oakland doesn't do driver testing. You have to go to Wayne or Paramus. Those are the closest to Oakland.
No, and when they do open there will only be a select few that will be doing titles and registration. Check njmvc.gov for a mvc near you that will be handling titles so you don't wait in a long line for no reason.
Agency will be open july 7th
June 29 it's on the website
You will need to provide a bill of sale which can say it was a gift or that you paid $1. You will also need the title signed by your dad. They will also want proof of insurance. They will issue you a new title.
Walk in, no appointment necessary. I believe they're $10-15
The cost of the four-year CDL is $42 and $2 for each endorsement
The MVC doesn't send you emails. Be careful it doesn't sound right.
Anyone can pick them up
All you have to do is transfer your registration from the old car to the new car. I've been doing that with a blue plate since the 1980s.
They are currently beta testing Real IDs, but they are only available by appointment. You can sign up online to be notified when Real ID is available at your local NJMVC office.
No, it's an American holiday.
Go in person
Yes you can and it cost $5
6pt of identification Clearly stated on website
You can go to the MVC, sorry Chris it hasn't been the DMV in years
You walk in
Std fee But the calendar starts on the due date, not when you pay
Only nj plates, they will give you a receipt for you records
That's an agency call. Need to see paperwork before any decision could be made
Yes, also needs to be inspected before titled
You will also need proof of insurance to register a car
You don't have to worry about the license if you just take away his / her keys. GL
She would need her full six points, school I'd and report card along with her license should do just fine
Lorraine, instead of getting untrained, opinions on an open public website might I suggest going on Oakland motor vehicle website or calling them directly.
Dont believe so Probably better off calling
To register
Yes you can
Yes, but you can not have a driver's license and state id. They cancel each other
legitimate gift? I would put a buck.
You would also need a lien release if you ever made payments on the vehicle. Costs $60.00 for new titke
Fill out duplicate title application, bring your license and current or expired registration or insurance card. And if you ever made an6 payments on the car you would probably also need a lien release letter
No, Oakland is NOT A testing location. Wayne, Paterson, and Lodi are testing agencies.
Scratching my head and rereading the question....ahh... Real ID usually works better than your fake ID.
Monday thru Friday 8am to 5:30. Tuesday until 7:30. And Saturday from 8 to 1
No
You need "6 points" . Certain documents count as more points. Here you go: https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/pdf/license/ident_ver_posterpint.pdf
Oakland is not a testing agency. You would need to give more information for me to tell you where to take 'the test' written test or road test does make a difference..
You can't get a new driver's license at the Oakland office. They will have info on the mvc website about the cost, locations and paperwork. Good luck! https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/locations/lodi.htm
Personally, I would not turn over or destroy this important form of picture identification. When my dad couldn't drive anymore... We just took away his keys.
Yes you can
No vehicle inspection here. Is that what you're asking? Who knows?have you considered looking at their website for whatever it is you may need....?
Here's a really wild idea! Go on the motor vehicle website and research what you need.
You may hand in old license plates.
No vehicle inspections at Oakland. Wayne location does vehicle inspections.
Usually, you get a notice in the mail, you respond to it, and it's done. Otherwise, you go there, they will give you a form. You bring your old registration and insurance information, and some money. They accept cash or credit/debit card. Their service is very good.
MON,WED,THUR, FRI - 8AM - 530PM. TUESDAY 8AM -730PM. SAT 8AM-1PM. HOPE THIS HELPS ..
Take your 6 points of id and go into any agency. They will either renew it or give you a copy. You should also ask for a refund form, if you were already charged for the renewal
Title, license and nj insurance
Tuesday close at 730pm.
No
No, it is not a testing center. Testing centers are listed on the website.
No. MV website will give you the exact requirements you will need for whatever process you're doing. All you got to do is look.
Check on line for the documents needed for the points .
I think no I went there for registration and there wasn't any room for test, however license s were made there, you should call them directly
Call the office ..
For that you would need to call the office.
There is inspection station in Wayne, Lodi and Paramus. There are a few more but those are the ones I use.
Yes
It's online, but i believe it is 6
They open at 8am
Best to look on line.. social security card his NY license school id utility bill etc.
Do you need their phone number?
Do you need their phone number?
No
Refer to the website
Yes she would need to be present otherwise they will not give it to you.
I would call dmv
Yes you can renew the clerks are very quick and fruendly. Mid morning i feel is the fastest in and out.
During business hours would work out fine for you.
Yes you can I would call ahead first just to be sure .
Open both today and tomorrow.
No. But...Lodi does Inspections. I have gone there in the past and the lines move pretty quickly.
Yes, but there are usually long lines, try later in day if you go on Saturday.
