It was a pretty average meal here after hearing so many positive things over the years. The fried chicken platter was relatively cold when it was served to us - guessing it was just a little old and left to sit out versus being fried to order. The sides that were ordered along with it were a let down. The fries were cold and hard, the green beans tasted canned, and the biscuit was plain. Also ordered a pot pie (which was actually the star of the show) and a pulled fried chicken sandwich - both of which disappointingly had bones in them. The fried chicken sandwich was also cold, likely suffering the same fate as the fried chicken platter. Overall, just very meh.

Conveniently located right off of 460 in Wakefield Virginia this restaurant has it all from a buffet down to the locally grown peanuts. The food was amazingly delicious and our waiter Nae was super awesome! She made sure we were taken care of and was there for every need which made the Virginia Diner experience amazing. Everything that we ate was so delicious. The sweet potato casserole, bread pudding, and the peach cobbler was so good I had to reframe myself from eating too much. Next time you're in Wakefield Virginia driving down 460 be sure to stop at the Virginia Diner

Welcoming diner. Plenty of parking - even with a camper. Service was pretty good. Biscuits and gravy was good. Big, fluffy biscuits and hot gravy. Potatoes were old and cold. :( They need to know how to "scramble" an egg. :( Hubby got fried eggs, and were really good. Ham is always delish. Grits had zero seasoning, and were so watery. Literally like they added water to done grits. :( Tea and coffee were both good. Got peanut pie to go. Staff were really nice. restrooms were clean.

This is the second time I have stopped here to eat. The first time, we had the buffet and way before I was participating in Google Reviews. From what I remember, the buffet was excellent. This stop the cheese burgers we ordered looked great but were not delicious at all. Not fresh (frozen patty) and tatsed weird. I could not finish mine. The service was top notch! The establishment was clean and comfortable.

Is the buffer Sunday only? Or is it available other days also? Breakfast and lunch times?
Yes my family stopped at the virginia Diner end of September for breakfast the buffet was outstanding everything was fresh we will definitely be returning next year
I eat gluten free but am not a celiac. Many of the vegetable dishes are fine, the pulled pork, roasted chicken, coleslaw are all fine but it is Southern country cooking so lots of breaded foods, biscuits, and even the fantastic carrot souffle is thickened with wheat flour. So if you are extremely sensitive, maybe not a good idea because the kitchen is not gluten free but if you pick carefully from the menu, yes, you can find options that are gluten free. Most of the menu is not gluten free.
Half of the tables are closed, the staff wears masks properly, hand sanitizer easily accessible, and staff quick to clean up after guests.
We do not have a way to ship our fresh food products from the restaurant at this time unfortunately. Stay tuned though - maybe someday not too far down the road!
Yes, the Diner will be open for our Thanksgiving Buffet from 11am-6pm. We are also accepting limited large party reservations.
Yes, buffet-only from 10:30-6. Menu and details available on Facebook.
The lunch/dinner buffet is currently Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 7PM, and Saturday also has a breakfast buffet from 7AM-10AM. The buffet is fully encased with plexiglass and guests are served by the staff from behind the line while they pick out their items, and then are handed their plate at the end of the line.
11AM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We do not offer this during the weekday right now because of the lower traffic volume with the current conditions. We also offer a breakfast buffet on Saturday morning from 7AM-10AM.
We are CLOSED on Christmas Day so our Team Members may spend that day with their family and friends.
Yes
No. It is a large diner with a big reputation, and the company sells its peanuts in national grocery stores.. they accept cards.
I haven't eaten the Friday evening buffet in a while. Some years ago the used to have seafood but for some reason I want to say that it is now a country buffet like they have on Sundays. Fried chicken, Han, fish, lots of vegetables and some desserts. Sorry for not having better information.
About 7 miles south on the same road as the Diner is of Felts Butchery. It's a great place to get your ham and they slice it to your preference.
No outdoor section when we were there 2 months ago. Not a place to take (non-service) dogs - it is a restaurant.
Be. Diner is not closing.
Yes there is
Sorry I'm not sure when they do seafood buffet.
