Extremely nice folks. They really care about these “unwanted” animals and want the best for them.

Kittens were infested with fleas. I was adopting 2 kittens. I was lied to by the staff. I was told by staff via email prior to meeting the kittens that I would not be bringing the kittens home until their operation which was a lie. My family went to meet the kittens and I was forced to take them home the same day for sponsor only and after several appointments plus spay/neutering I could adopt. They said they would not hold the kittens and if I wanted them I would have to take them home to sponsor that day. My children fell in love with the kittens and fear of losing them I agreed to sponsor. I advised the representative that I work Monday - Friday and will not be able to bring them during the week day which she agreed was fine. After signing the paperwork I was told that I would need to bring them during the week for an appointment. Again I told the staff that I work and can not bring them during the week day. The staff did not care. I asked for management phone number and was given a email. I brought the kittens home and after seeing a flea on my 1 year old I found that the kittens were infested with fleas. I bathed them in dawn and contacted the office. I was told they couldn't do anything. I brought them for their operation and I have not returned to pick them up from fear of another flea infestation. I am now trying to free my home of fleas that I keep finding on my children. This is unprofessional and they should be ashamed..

Wildlife is being seen during the day and in residential areas more and more due to increased development. Be sure trash cans are securely covered, feed pets indoors, and make sure there is no source of food available outdoors. A fox cutting through your yard is probably just passing through on their way between hunting areas or their den, and no action is necessary on your part. Usually, the best thing to do is leave them alone. For more information, check out the NC Wildlife Resources Commission's website at ncwildlife.org.
Yes they are call them now

Got my pitting 2 years ago Dec. She picked me out. Very nice facility. For 40 dollars and the things they took care medical wise. Can't be that nor could not beat the fact, Bella picked me out. Greatest friend I've ever had. Joanie

Jordan, pets can be adopted and taken home the same day as long as they have already been spayed/neutered. If they are too young/small for their procedure, we do foster-to-adopt which means you take the pet home and return them on their scheduled surgery date. The adoption is finalized that afternoon when you pick up. The only requirements to adopt are a minimum age of 18 and a government issued photo ID.
You don't have to be living in Alamance county to adopt from there.
Elizabeth Overcash-Shelter Manager

Burlington Animal Services is the only animal shelter serving Alamance County and we are an open admission shelter. We strive to give every animal entering our facility the best possible outcome by making them available for adoption, placing them in foster homes, or working with community partners and other animal welfare agencies to place them. We do not euthanize healthy, adoptable pets due to a lack of space. Animals that are euthanized are for medical issues we are not able to treat or serious behavior problems.
Ozzie, Burlington Animal Services does not currently have any Great Pyrenees. The dogs you found on Petfinder are with various rescue organizations. You would need to contact them directly. If you click on the dog's photo, you can get the contact information.
