Great campsite overlooking the beach, but beware of the wildlife. Something got into our bags and ate all the live food (apparently wildlife doesn't like freeze-dried food either). Was here in off season (September) so only a few other campers/hikers. Cold only showers with no curtain, but full service bathhouse available about a 3/10 of a mile down from campsite including flushable toilets, showers and even laundromat. Bring coins!!!

I have been visiting Catalina for years, 60 to be exact. It has changed and evolved over the years. Although the place is not the same, many things do remain the same. It is a beautiful place with some wonderful people like Teresa! The one thing I did notice during this last visit was that the guests that come here are sometimes not nice to each other or the people who work here. Frankly, some are rude and act entitled. Just a thought to all who visit, be kind and have grace with all you meet. The world has been difficult for all of us these past years and I certainly want to project the joy that the Isthmus gives me and can provide to others. Be kind, be safe, and have fun!

Great trip overall!! However we had some rough experiences with some of the workers at the gear haul service. We had our gear ready and packed in the designated area by 7:30AM, one hour before it had to be there (pick up is at 8:30am), but our gear was left behind. The worker drove right past us, and as we called after him he looked toward us, ignores us and continued driving. My parents (both over 50) had to carry their gear back to the port before the boat left! When we got back to the port we confronted the driver and he was extremely rude and claimed we left our gear in the table (which it was not, it was in the designated area where our gear was dropped off), then he claimed he did not see us when we yelled after him…luckily the director of operations Theresa was very helpful in diffusing the situation. If it wasn’t for her I am not sure if I would return to their services. It’s nice to have a gear haul service and totally worth 6$ but be sure that they actually pick up the gear!
