Food was definitely 5*, but the service was lacking severely this morning for breakfast. Service was 5* yesterday for service and food. I believe our server today was Taylor. She was great to start out. But then she disappeared. She finally came back to check on us. My friend needed more coffee as it had been empty and also needed more syrup. I works have liked more water. By the time she came back, I was done eating, so my friend didn't want more coffee or syrup. She told us that she was signing up for insurance. I'm sorry...we're customers. If you're going to do that, have another server check on your tables. After that, she was very short with us and not courteous at all. She was good when she was there. I get is work related, but customers are first. I would have breakfast there again.

So I got the Hawthorn special breakfast. My over easy eggs were super fried, the sausage was similar to petrified wood, the potatoes were dehydrated yet oily at the same time, and my french toast needed therapy. All for 18 dollars... It was horrible. Scariest thing in Salen so far.David, although many people come to Salem in October to be frightened, it shouldn't happen over breakfast. Your depiction of breakfast sounds less than stellar, and your experience is not something the team at the Hawthorne is proud of. We do hope you spoke to your server or a manager before leaving and that your bill was adjusted accordingly.

PROS: This restaurant is ran by the hotel don't forget. They had good food and the staff was very nice and accommodating. They have a lot of room to sit many people and also obey CDC guidelines. …

The service was wonderful and considerate, and all the staff we met were kind. Some even chatted with us for awhile. 100% would go here again. Great food as well, with a short wait. The pancakes are light and fluffy, while the bacon is crispy, and everything else was amazingly cooked.

Yes, the Hawthorne Hotel will be serving dinner on Thanksgiving, most likely a 3 or 4 course plated meal. We have not finalized details nor are we taking reservations until after October 18. Details will then be posted on our website and FB.
In non-COVID-restricted years, the Hawthorne Hotel does offer an extensive Thanksgiving buffet. Great for families or for couples, as we seat guests in four different rooms, ensuring a comfortable dining experience.
We traditionally host a buffet on Christmas Day, with a prix-fixe menu on Christmas Eve. Reservations are required for both. In additional to Nathaniel's, the Hawthorne Hotel features the oak-paneled and cozy Tavern, where holiday specials are available on Christmas Eve and after 5:00 p.m. Christmas Day. Walk-ins are welcome in the Tavern.
