They told me i could go anytime on the phone and when I got there they told that i need it appointment. The lady was helping us with a attitude. ๐คจ The sad thing was when my kids were really happy because we were going to know a dog. And when they saw we didn't got nothing not even time to be with a dog they were really sad sad as a mom I don't like my kids sad almost crying that break my heart ๐ ๐ข..

We thought the facility itself was absolutely beautiful. As far as the staff goes they were all top notch. Jana who did our home visit was so professional and kind. Carol who kept us up to date on the available dogs was an absolute pleasure to work with. We went today to hopefully meet our new forever family member and there she was waiting for us. A perfect fit and we are whole once again. Thank you Homeward Bound.

Hi Almas. Yes, you can adopt if you live in Santa Rosa. Answers to your questions are found on our website along with an application through the link here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt/faqs.html
Hello, Patricia. Because our commitment to the dogs is for life and the dog must come back to us if - for whatever reason - it can no longer be with the family, we do not generally adopt out of state. You are not that far from our area, however, so I recommend that you complete an application on our website and discuss your situation and level of commitment to this policy with the placement volunteer. No promises, but definitely worth a discussion! Thanks.
Hello Dorith, your adoption journey with Homeward Bound begins with reading about our process and completing an application on our website at: www.hbgrr.org Thank you!
A wonderful place to volunteer and truly make a difference. I have been with them for 18 years. My life is better for it.
Hello Jane, as long as your adoption application is approved and you understand that the entire family (two-and-four legged) must come to meet the dog. And that, if, for any reason, the dog can no longer stay with you, you will return it to Homeward Bound. Our commitment to our dogs is for life.
Veronica, Homeward Bound does not "sell" puppies or adult dogs. We match dogs to pre-approved adopters to ensure a good fit for both, and a home that understands the real costs of time and money required to care for a fur-companion. We charge adoption fees which are listed on our website to offset our costs of transport, medical care, food and housing while the dogs are in our program. In no way do these fees come close to covering our full expense. You will find this information on our website. If you decide to purchase a puppy, please read our information on how to choose a responsible breeder so you don't unknowingly contribute to the misery of puppy mills. Thank you. https://homewardboundgoldens.org/training-resources/responsible-breeders.html
Dominick, please complete the form on our website and we will be in touch with you as soon as it is received. You will find it here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/surrender.html
Homeward Bound supports Goldens, Golden mixes, and when we have capacity, dogs of Golden heart!
Hi, your adoption journey with Homeward Bound begins with reading about our process and completing an application on our website. You will find the information here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt.html Thank you!
Hi Lucy, we have adopted that far away, but because we require a meet-and-greet at the rescue - and all adopters must agree that if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason - they must return it to us...it is a long way. There are a number of Golden Retriever Rescues closer to your area. If you are still interested, please visit our website and read about our adoption process at https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt.html
We are a nonprofit rescue organization, not a public shelter. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization โ Tax ID #68-0442702.
We do not sell puppies or dogs. We make dogs available for adoption. We require and recommend that anyone considering a fur-family member be involved in the decision as it should be a commitment for life.
If you mean small Golden Retrievers - sometimes, yes. But Goldens tend to be bigger dogs. We do occasionally have small dogs with golden hearts. If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website for more information and our adoption process at: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/
After they have seen the vet and been evaluated by an adoption counselor
Hi! You can find our adoption fees and other answers to frequently asked questions on our website, here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt/faqs.html
Hello Alex. The response posted is correct for adoption fees. You can find them on our website here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt/faqs.html. There is no fee to surrender a dog for rehoming.
We rarely advertise puppies for adoption. When they arrive, they tend to go very quickly to people who are already approved for adoption. The best way to be prepared is to complete an application on our website and get pre-approved. That way, you'll be all set when that happy phone call comes! Read all about our process and complete an application here: https://homewardboundgoldens.org/adopt.html
Our volunteers must be 18 or over. You can read about our volunteer program on our website. Thank you.
