While it took me an extraordinaordinarily long time (14 months) to finally get registered here and get my first appointment after cancelations and no record of appointments scheduled when I showed up multiple times, once I got in I've found the quality of the care to be very good. The NPs I've seen take their time, are very thorough, and actually listen to my problems. Labs, x-rays, and prescriptions have been very fast.

That's terrible. I obviously don't know all the details but the VA does reimburse mileage. Might need to pay his way back and then contact the Travel office. Just a guess but it's the best guidance I can provide. Good luck!
You can also have a Veterans Representative Organization, (VSO) represent you free of charge, and file any claims. Such as the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, etc. It's a rat maze trying to figure it out on your own. A few of the VSO's are in the same building as the VA Regional office at the front entrance to the VA Hospital Campus. Hope this helps any vets dealing with the V.A. It can be a daunting task, but better sooner than later, is best. Sincere Regards, SSG Michael R. Fujiwara U.S. Army Ret. O.I.F. III, " All Gave Some. Some Gave All. There is a limited amount of RV parking in lot #7. There may be a reservation system for this parking, so you should call 422-1000 and follow the options to speak to someone about that. You could also visit the BVAMC webpage and see if there is information regarding that there.
Sir . I am a volunteer at the VA hospital from the hours of 8 to sometimes 1000 am I would be glad to help you out with the process
Yes
Not sure if they are open to visitors yet, but your best bet is to contact the activity coordinator at either the VAMC or the Idaho State Veterans Home. The Veterans Home has a website and Facebook page that can give you links and additional information
Yes, if discharged under Honorable conditions but you have to go to the VA Hospital and get enrolled first. Be sure and bring your DD-214 and related documents. I would call first and make as things do change.
You can call 208-422-1499 to schedule your COVID19 vaccine at the Boise VA.

You just need to get into the VA in Boise and go in the outpatient door which is the only one you can get in right now and they'll show you the office right next to the information desk and they will be able to fill you in
Yes when you if you have a primary care doctor you can hand it to him he will rewrite the script or edited best to talk to your primary care physician at the VA if you don't have one then you're not a VA patient
There is a number to call to begin the conversation regarding most care in the community billing issues, it is 877-881-7618. Your concerns my be more correctly addressed by our local office at 208-422-1252. Emergency room visits are controlled tightly and your episode of care must be a "true" emergency for VA to pay for the care. The experts will be able to explain it in much greater detail. Hope this is of help.
