The staff at this bank is super helpful and friendly, especially Lori. Any time i need help with something they are there ready to help. They actually care about their account holders at this branch. They even put out cookies every day. I love this bank and everyone who works at it!Thank you so much for your kind words. Jacob. Be weary of opening up a new account here. Let's just say you open up an account with intentions of using it. The account has $100 in it. But for whatever reason you end up not using it. So they take a monthly fee... Which I am 100% ok with. It is agreed upon ahead of time. But every month they take a fee until there is no money left. I understand this. Where the unethical part of Ocean First Bank comes into play is at this point where you didn't have enough money to cover the fee. I don't have the exact numbers, but it is extremely ridiculous. Look into it and you will see. So let's say you go negative by $5. There is an instant fee applied. (I am ok with this) Then you have I believe 10 days to get this negative balance + the overdraft fee paid off. If you don't then there is another larger fee put on top. Then I believe it goes to every 7 days if you don't pay off the total accumulated balance an increasingly larger fee is applied. Then again in 7 days....then again in 7 days... And so on...and so on. So here is the kicker.... They won't mail you a letter to tell you this is happening. Ocean First Bank will tell you it is your responsibility to check the Ocean First Bank app to see what is going on with your account. Again this is an account that you opened but never used.... So why are you checking the app?!?! Needless to say, it only takes less than 2 months to accumulate over $300 in fees. Somewhere at this point, they decide that they have you in a vice, so they send you a letter stating you are seriously in the negative. However we are going to continue to add on ever increasing ridiculous fees every 7 days. So after 3 weeks of phone calls and fees close to $1000 they finally decided that it warranted the account be frozen.... Really. I mean I never thought an institution would have rules in place to take advantage of a customer to the levels of insanity. If you are opening an account with Ocean First Bank, ask the right questions, ask to see the actual penalty structure in writing. Unless someone found some common sense and change these ridiculous rules. I am confident when you see these penalties you will opt to NOT open a bank account with Ocean First Bank at any location. I mean... You never know when you might find yourself in this situation... Things happen. Why would you want to bank with an institution that will take advantage of you if things in your life change?
