Paved, straight, and flat. Benches throughout and mile markers too. Pretty ideal for biking. There's a small unpaved mile-long loop that goes around a lake too. Way too many dog owners who do not follow the rules like leaving dogs unleashed and do not pick up terds. I wish I could have enjoyed the scenery, but spent most of the walk looking down to not step in any piles, especially past mile marker 3.

Didn't get to walk the whole trail like I wanted I was on a pretty tight time limit. But the two miles I walked was very nice. Saw several snakes.

It's not a bad trail. It's a little under 25 miles round trip, and there's only one trailhead spot, so it's easy to figure out where to pick it up. It's probably the flattest and straightest trail I've been on. There's a fairy garden, so …

You cannot. The park closes at dusk (30 minutes after sunset per the Parks dept)
Marion Tallgrass Trail: 4th Annual Trail of Treats, 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at 2093 Holland Road W., Marion. Marion County Park District and volunteers will pass out candy and treats to kids along the trail.
There are signs posted saying no horses (and no e- horses!), and no hunting, but I haven't heard of a ban on e- scooters

As of spring 2018, it's about 12.4 miles. That's from the east end trail head on Holland road out to Hardin-Marion road where the trail currently ends.
