Nice clean trail right next to American River and Folsom Lake. Great views of the lake and the dam spillway. Plenty of parking by the park and lots of bike paths to ride and jog along.

This is an amazing beautiful bike trail. Really well maintained and the surrounding areas are so peaceful. Well maybe not the prison but it's definitely cool to see.

How long is the bike trail

Johnny Cash Trail | Sep 15, 2019

Hi Natalie, thank you for asking! The Johnny Cash Trail is approximately 2.5 miles long from its starting point near the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary/ Dan Russell Arena to it's end point at the Johnny Cash Overpassing at Folsom Lake Crossing. Of course, you can make it a longer ride by connecting to the American River Bike Trail and Lake Natomas Bike Trail - serious cyclists can turn it into a 6-mile loop or use it as a starting point to a 32-mile trip to Sacramento. You may find this useful as you plan a trip to the trail: https://folsomcasharttrail.com/blog/articles/postid/46/heading-to-the-johnny-cash-trail-where-to-park-where-to-start-what-to-see Thank you for reaching out!

How long is the trail?

Hello Tiffany! The Johnny Cash Trail is approx 2.5 miles from its starting point by Folsom Lion's Park / Zoo/ Library to its end point at Folsom Lake Crossing. If you go from one end to the other and back again, you'll have a round trip of approx 5 miles. And if you're feeling very ambitious, you can connect at Folsom Lake Crossing to the American River bike trail and Lake Natoma trail. The American River trail can take you on a 32-mile ride from Folsom to Old Sacramento. Here's a trail map: https://folsomcasharttrail.com/Portals/0/documents/JCT_Trail_Map.pdf You can find more information on our site at https://folsomcasharttrail.com I hope that was helpful, and we can't wait to see you on the trail!

What happened to the banner on E Natomas of his back and guitar?

Phylis Jones | Sep 15, 2019
Johnny Cash Trail | Sep 15, 2019

Hi Phylis! Thanks for your question. The banner on E Natomas was put up to celebrate the Amgen Tour of CA event and was not meant to be a permanent fixture. What you saw was a preview of the 40-foot tall sculpture of The Man in Black that will ultimately be placed permanently in that location once the art work comes to the trail. You can help bring the art to the trail by making a donation! For more info, visit us at https://folsomcasharttrail.com/

Where is parking?

Colorado Shoar | Sep 15, 2018
Bear James | Sep 15, 2018

Best place to park for easy access is the park next to the Folsom Rodeo with the baseball fields. It all depends where you want to go and how far. Trail starts near the Rainbow Bridge off Greenback near Scott St (near Moose Lodge). Parking at Rodeo, you save a bit of time to get to the beautiful new wooden Bridge... If you want to start near Moose Lodge, park in lot behind Chicago Fire/Folsom Power House Pub.
