Just want to say that Rocklin Coin shop has some of the nicest people there, and they were very helpful to me. I have never had a bad experience from them in the least, and they’re all very professional. Ariana is a Numismatists, and was very helpful with looking at my coins. I called ahead as with any business like this, it can become busy in a good way. So I want to thank them all for being so helpful to me! 😃👍🏻

While I’ve only been here a handful of times, my experiences have always been pleasant. The workers are knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices are competitive when compared to online bullion dealers. I’ve never felt cheated after a purchase. I’ll definitely be doing more business with the Rocklin Coin Shop in the future.

Outstanding! Definitely going back. I'm a small coin buyer looking for mostly filler quality coins. So, I'm not going to spend $1000.00 in a coin shop (like the guy down the counter), maybe $20.00. But they spent as much time and care with me as they did the big spender. I really appreciate that.

The owner offered 1/3 of the actual market value for gold and silver. This is unheard of in the industry and very sub-par. Never go there unless you want to lose money and get completely ripped-off

Questions & Answers

Is an appointment required to visit your shop?

Rocklin Coin Shop | Sep 14, 2021

No sir. Our business hours are M-F, 10AM-5PM and Sat 11AM-5PM. During the week, if you plan on coming in around noon, give the shop a call first at 916-315-0888. Sometimes we just have one person on staff, and will regularly close the shop during lunch. We do schedule appointments, for customers who want to come in at a specific time.

How do I get a coin graded?

John Catron | Sep 14, 2021
Rocklin Coin Shop | Sep 14, 2021

We send coins for grading through PCGS and if requested, NGC. However, we charge a fee for this service which varies depending on the type of coin and it's value. However, anyone can join PCGS and NGC as standard consumers and submit their own coins. If you plan on grading only one coin in a one year period, it's probably cheaper to go through us. If you plan on grading 2 or more coins, it is probably cheaper to join the clubs and submit yourself.

Are any of the Susan B or other one dollar coins worth any thing over a dollar?

Phillip Donahue | Sep 14, 2020

There are a few. Certain dates and especially uncirculated rolls can see premiums above the face value. Always best to check before you spend!

Hi, looking at shops to buy junk silver from.. do you price junk silver by ounces, and what price would that be? Is it based of numismatic or silver content at this location?

dancer cow | Sep 15, 2019
Rocklin Coin Shop | Sep 14, 2021

Generally, when we use the term “Junk Silver” it would necessarily mean those US 90% Silver coins that do not have sufficient numismatic value to exceed the value in silver content. However, on the customer’s request, we will check their junk silver to make sure there is no coin that has a numismatic premium in excess of its commodity premium. Pricing junk silver is typically a function of applying a multiplier of face value (for instance, if we’re buying at 18.5 x FV (Face Value), then we’ll purchase a dime for $1.85, a quarter for $4.63, and a half dollar for $9.25. However, this translates into a price per ounce paid by applying the formula of Face Value Multiplier (FVM) divided by 0.72. In this case, 18.5/0.72 = $25.69 per ounce of pure silver.

Yes we do. South African Krugerrands are one of the most common 1 Troy ounce gold coins on the market, and they defiantly fall under the umbrella of what we deal with.
