They're absolutely shameless! I love and adore them! Trivia night was a blast, the drinks are excellent, and the vibes are right.

If you're over 40 with a really good job and have straight friends, this is your "queer" bar to go to. Very inauthentic and out of touch to both young people and people who grew up in Syracuse. This location opened up with too many ideas on the table. If I remember correctly they even attempted a "kids friendly day" early on... at a Bar... that is supposedly tailored for the LGBTQ community. The lack of consistent identity makes it very unapproachable as a cornerstone for queer culture in their attempts to set the bar high. I wouldn't call this a queer bar as it does the queer identity a huge injustice, this is a liberal's bar. The pricey drinks and the pretentious "East Williamsburg"/Bushwick appeal completely removes it as a realistic option for majority of the consumer base it aims to serve. Inclusivity is merely lip service at Wunderbar... I miss Rain Lounge. EDIT: Oh and supposedly this bar that had the gall to serve a medley children's lunch snacks as an overpriced appetizer (go see Nicole's review on yelp to see the embarrassing "Daddy's Minimum" dish) also has a tendency to pay their booked talent in "exposure".... absolutely nuts.

Hi Scott - There is an art exhibit opening from 5-8 today, so it should be a good vibe. We'll have a later crowd as well because Syracuse Guerrilla Gay Bar is tonight (check them out too, they are a pop up group at Shaugnausy's in the Marriot downtown) and many people head to Wunderbar after that around 10 or 11.
Hi August - we do a lot of events which are 18+. Check out our social media pages (Facebook & Instagram) and see our Week In Advance. It’s got all the age restrictions on it! Thanks!
Hi Phyllis, There are a lot of events which do not have an age restriction - any of our theatre for example is all ages. We have a Sunday day time dance party which is all ages as well. The only time we are strictly 21+ is when we are just a bar. We're still figuring out a good way to publicize which events are 21+ or which are all ages. So if you are ever unsure, we recommend calling the barstaff and checking with them! Thank you!
