I went to Dr. Girgis on 7.15.20 as I thought I had something in my eye. They checked my eyes, stated that I had tons of irritation under my right lid, and that it was due to "allergies". I was prescribed a milky drop corticosteroid and was told to buy pataday over the counter for eye itch. In my 35 yrs, I've never had allergies, but sure, I suppose a sudden onset can happen. Fast forward to yesterday. I made an appt with another eye doc to get a second opinion, and guess what? No eye allergies. Instead I am suffering from sever dry eye and was told to get non-perservative drops over the counter. Turns out the pataday I was told to take is making my dry eye worse! Moreover, the corticosteroid only masks the problem and doesn't heal the underlying issue. It also raises eye pressure and since I have a history of glaucoma in my family, to stay away from it. Therefore, I was told to discontinue everything I was told to take. Once I started with the right drops, it is like night and day. Misdiagnoses happen all the time, but I thought it may help someone. Needless to say I will never be going back to this doc.
