My son got chicken teriyaki and the chicken was very burnt and there was hardly any sauce on the chicken. The miso soup and the Ramen was super salty for my taste. We got the Red Dragon roll, which was above average and the California Roll which was also good. They do have an extensive menu and the place was over half full so it's pretty popular, for some, but I've eaten at better sushi places.

I was told that it is the best sushi ever, but I have found less fancy places that have much better food and it is less expensive. Amakara is on a busy street, most probably with a huge lease, which we pay for. I believe if they can have a better and less expensive location, they can pass the savings on to their customers. I know that there are really expensive locations for some fancy restaurants, but the quality and design of their food matches their location. I don't feel like it was the same in this case. Plus their service was mediocre for the amount they charged...

Went here on a weekday and had to wait because they don’t take reservations. Their sushi rolls were unique and delicious. The portion size is pretty big, two sushi rolls were a lot for me and my husband. Although we were full, the temptation to resist their dessert was difficult. Got the fried ice cream and it wasn’t bad. Definitely going back for sushi rolls!

Finally got in after trying multiple times - either the wait was too long or couldn’t get reservations. So, book ahead. Food is very flavorful. The happy hour menu has good choices but limited (most of them $2 off regular prices). Especially liked the spicy poke. Worth the visit… try Amakara.
