Older rooms were satisfactory for the lowest price rooms. Small and rustic but that was expected for a lodge built in the 1930s. Higher price rooms are more upscale with more space and TV. Both locations provide great views on the mountains and valley. Great location to go either north or south on Skyline drive. Excellent food in the restaurant. The clerk, Andre, provided a gracious and equitable solution to a problem I had with our reservation. Thank you Andre for great customer service!

The location is fantastic, not having to drive into the park every day. The main lodge building's operating hours are great. However, the lodges are not insulated well; I couldn't get it warm at all. The price of the room didn't feel worth it except for the fact that it's located in the park, especially after fees and taxes, which were much more than I expected (if the room has a utility fee per night, just include it in the room rate).

Built in 1939, Big Meadows Lodge is rustic, welcoming and beautiful. Great view of WV from the main lounge. Various trails from easy to moderately strenuous. Family friendly with playgrounds and swings. Some rooms/cabins are pet friendly. Friendly, courteous and efficient staff. Really enjoyed our three day stay there.

My husband and I stayed for one night since we were taking wedding photos at a nearby overlook. The entire staff was extremely friendly and our check-in and check-out process was really smooth. We had a dog friendly room since we were traveling with our pup and the room was very clean. We only had one bug visitor, but that's expected if you're out in nature. At first we had an issue with the heating, we couldn't really figure out how to get it to turn off, but eventually we figured it out, so it wasn't a big deal. The restaurant staff were extremely ice and welcoming. We felt terrible that we had to go for a late dinner after our photos, but were not rushed at all. The food was great as well. Overall, we are highly satisfied and can't wait to come back!
