I loved!! It is a very beautiful place and what I loved the most was seeing the butterflies. I recommend it.

We loved the dinosaurs, butterfly exhibit, and mineral show.

Went to Santa Barbara' museum of natural history on my last day visiting. Was a beautiful atmosphere, not over crowded and so many things of interest. The had a few shows at there planetarium and an outdoor live butterfly sanctuary. They have live stages of moths evelution and you can see the zoologists moving them around. Parking is free. I am not to sure what there food policy is but I didnt see any food vendors on the campus, there did however have butterfly soaps, books, stuffed animals and children's puzzles for sale in there courtyard. I will definitely be coming back with my nieces and nephews. I love that is in the same vicinity of the Santa Barbara mission as well. Definitely worth going to see with the little ones.

Fantastic little museum. Just enough to be digestible without overwhelming. Definitely doable in one afternoon with little kids. The mechanical dinosaurs are awesome, as is the gem room.

Hi Robert, thanks for asking! In summer, the Museum and Sea Center participate in the Blue Star program, which grants free admission to active duty military personnel and their families. You can find more information about the Blue Star program on the NEA's website: https://www.arts.gov/national-initiatives/blue-star-museums/frequently-asked-questions
Hi Mary Ann, our basic Individual Membership includes free admission for two named adults or one named adult and a guest. Some of the higher levels of membership include admission for more guests. Yes! So glad you asked. We participate in Museums for All and offer a discount to EBT cardholders. Show a valid CalFresh/SNAP EBT card and photo ID at Admissions to receive entry to the Museum or Sea Center at $3 per person, for up to a group of four. For example, a family of four can visit by paying $12.00 total. This pricing works during all normal operation hours, and you can come back and use it again any time.
Yes, it will be open that day!
The Museum and Sea Center will be open as usual, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on December 26 and 27. Both campuses are closed on December 25 and close early (3:00 PM) on December 24. Hope we see you here!

Thanks for asking, Michael! Yes, we did. This year, as the main venue for ArtWalk was closed for improvements (Fleischmann Auditorium), we hosted The Artist’s Table, a ticketed fundraising dinner with notable local artists, followed by a public art show. It was so successful that we’re planning on a similar pair of events next year, with the public art show falling on October 3–4, 2020. Hope we see you there!
Hi Fernando, Chumash Life (our permanent exhibit hall) is open with the rest of the Museum, daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasionally some of our halls close for special events, in which case we usually post on Facebook to let guests know. You might be interested in our upcoming event, Supak'a: Sharing Chumash Culture on November 9 from noon to 5:00 PM. Check sbnature.org/calendar for more information on this and other events.
Hi Fernando, thanks for your question. Santa Barbara Trolley Company stops at the Museum: https://www.sbtrolley.com Unfortunately, SBMTD buses do not stop here.
Thanks for asking! In order to provide a secure and healthy environment for our guests, as well as to protect our collections, we can only allow trained service animals on Museum property. More details on our website: https://sbnature.org/visit/accessibility/
The Museum is open 10:00 AM–5:00 PM daily. Hope we see you here soon!

There's currently construction on it. They're aiming on having the building done by the end of the summer and maybe having butterflies in there then, but as of now it is not open.
It's close to a bus stop and it's about 10 dollars for seniors
I'm not sure but it would be best to check their website or call them.
