It is very easy to install laminate flooring on your hardwood. All you need is an adhesive and a glue gun. First of all let's prep the surface by wiping away sawdust with cleaner so there are no oils in excess from previous projects caked onto its fibers - this will help prevent sticking later when we put down our new product beneath it.
Vinyl is a specific type of plastic. Vinyl flooring is a product made by layering different materials, including vinyl. The most common type of vinyl floor consist of 4 layers: a felt, fiberglass or vinyl backing; a core layer; a decorative layer with the flooring pattern; and a final “wear layer” on top that protects the flooring from scratches and scuffs.
LVT is the perfect type of flooring for bathrooms, kitchens, basements and laundry rooms, but it can be installed anywhere in your home. There are even options that allow you to easily install over subfloors with minor irregularities.
The kind of trends you might see in hardwood planks or natural stone tiles can often be found in luxury vinyl. Vinyl can come in a nearly endless amount of patterns, as well as installation types such as sheets or interlocking tiles. So many options means it’s easy to find a floor that does what you need it to do, but is also really stylish
As a wood floor naturally expands and contracts with changing humidity and temperature levels, you may hear small cracking or squeaking noises.
cracked concrete can easily allow moisture and debris to enter the spaces between the tile and the mortar, which can cause the tiles to come loose. In addition, cracked concrete becomes missing concrete that can eventually ruin the installation. Repairing cracked concrete is worth the time it takes.
More scratch resistant/lasts longer. Pre-finished hardwood is 7-10x more scratch resistant than unfinished hardwood. That’s because when it’s finished on site, you generally get 2-3 coats of polyurethane while when it’s made in the factory, you usually get at least 6-7 coats which are oven baked along w/ aluminum oxide, the worlds’ 2nd hardest substance.
Whether or not your quartz countertops will be seamless completely depends on the size of your kitchen and the layout of your lower cabinets. Like granite, quartz is sold in slabs; however, all slabs max out at a certain length. The most common maximum slab length for both granite and quartz is 125” L x 65” W. This means if your lower cabinets are longer than 125” in length that your countertops will have to be seamed. Otherwise, you can achieve seamless quartz countertops.
The moisture content of the wood needs to adjust to the conditions in the room prior to installation. To acclimate hardwood flooring, place the packaged boards ─ cartons open and raised off the floor ─ in the room where they will be installed for 5 – 7 days. It is not necessary to acclimate engineered wood flooring.
The tile type often dictates what size joint space to use. It is desirable to have small joints in most cases. If a tile is rectified (cut after firing) a 2mm or 3mm space is possible. But not all tiles are 100% perfectly sized, therefore a bigger joint is sometime needed for a more aesthetic distribution of pieces.
It’s natural for hardwood flooring to yellow, grow darker or even lighter over time, depending on the wood species. Exposure to direct sunlight and some artificial lighting accelerates this process. Moving furniture and rugs will keep your floor well blended.
Enjoy this flooring type in any room of your home. It's durable enough for the highest traffic and most moisture-prone rooms, and beautiful enough with its realistic hardwood designs to elevate the style of your main living spaces and bedrooms.
“Resilient flooring” is a term used for flooring that has some elasticity to it. This is the case with vinyl – it is a firm flooring product with a bit of “give.” The terms vinyl and resilient flooring are often used interchangeably. However, it’s important to note that there are some non-vinyl, resilient flooring options, including cork, rubber and linoleum. If you have questions specific to any resilient flooring product, a Floor Store associate would be happy to help. Give us a call or stop by today.
Quartz countertops are stain-resistant thanks to the 5% of polymer that is mixed in with the natural stone during the manufacturing process. This polymer addition makes quartz one of the most durable surfaces on the market and they are resistant to scratches, as well, under normal circumstances. One instance that you will want to watch out for after you become a homeowner with quartz countertops is ring stains. If you spill a liquid or leave a sweaty glass on your quartz surface, be sure to wipe up the water right away and avoid over saturating the quartz.
Rigid core flooring, unlike many other types of flooring, offers the ultimate dent resistance against things like dropped objects and high heels. It's also 100% waterproof, so when exposed to water the planks will not swell, buckle or lose integrity.
A quality engineered floor will last as long and perform as well as a solid wood floor, and can even be refinished. The thicker the veneer, the more times you can refinish engineered hardwood floors. As a rule of thumb, count on 1-3 times.
Tile flooring is extremely durable. Because it is a harder material than wood or vinyl plank, it is more resistant to scratches, dents, fading, and other types of damage. While wood-look tile can easily withstand everyday use, it can crack, just like any other porcelain or ceramic tile
With innovative manufacturing techniques, luxury vinyl tile offers your home a luxurious appearance with comfortable foot cushioning-resilience. Thanks to its high-fashion designs, luxury vinyl tile is ideal for both formal and casual settings, making it popular in kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms, and dens.
While luxury vinyl flooring is incredibly durable, it's not completely impervious to damage. It can scratch or scuff, especially with heavy objects such as appliances. On the positive side, luxury vinyl flooring is more scratch-resistant than hardwood, and, with LVP, you can replace pieces if they get scratched
Sheet vinyl is has been around for a long time. It's cheap and water resistant, but it also doesn't have a great reputation because it can look and feel cheap. This makes a floor that is still relatively inexpensive but is more durable and better looking than traditional vinyl.
Luxury vinyl tile or plank flooring can give a bathroom a high-end look for a fraction of the price. It comes in beautiful wood and natural stone options. And you can find both water resistant and waterproof planks, which is a plus in bathrooms where moisture is always a factor. Luxury vinyl also feels soft and warm
