I don't believe so. If donating platelets then yes. I do advise making an appointment.

Red Cross has a list of medications that make donations unacceptable. Look online, or fill out a Rapid Pass. It will tell yu in the read requirements. Thanks for trying! Bring a friend! Its fun, and a very good thing.

Red Cross donations are wholly volunteered. I have donated for over 15 years and met some of the beneficiaries. That is worth every inconvenience. Donate! The "pay" is priceless!

I'm a donor, but I believe (considering the short life of whole blood and platelets) Red Cross only ships what is requested. I get updates of where my (platelet) donation wound up, and it's been from Afghanistan to Chicago, and points in between. I don't think directive requests can be guaranteed.
