Terrific gym. Wonderful trainers. Clean. Well maintained machines and weights.

I had a horrible experience at Equinox in Berkeley. I came to the facility on June 20th around 8pm. The front desk agent informed me that no one would be in to tour with me until tomorrow. He instructed me to come back to the facility tomorrow to tour. I followed his instructions and came back to the facility at noon today. The front desk agent asked me to take a seat, in order to get Alisa to tour with me. She came out of her office, and walked past me without even saying one word. She finally came back, and stated that she would give me a tour. The tour was extremely rushed. She did the most minimal work and any time that I asked a question, she seem annoyed. Since I am a traveling nurse, I only needed a membership for one month. She stated that the cost would be $310.00. I told her since I was new to the area, that I wanted to take a second to look at some other gyms before making my selection. I arrived back to Equinox to open an account about two hours later. I approached the front desk agent again, and asked to speak with Alisa. Before she could go find her, she came from around the corner, looked at me, and completely ignored me. I said hi to her, and she completely ignored me, and continued working on the electronic in front of her. The front desk agent noticed that she ignored me, and tried to get her attention and tell her that I was trying to get her attention. He stated, “she said she was looking for you”. She continued to look down at whatever she was doing, and said, “yeah, I have a tour” continuing to completely ignore my existence in front of her. I asked the front agent if I could speak with a manager. Alisa popped up from what she was doing, as if that was the only thing she heard, and took off smirking and said, I’ll go get her”. She came back to the front, didn’t look my way, and proceeded to help the people that had just walked in, ignoring me once again. The treatment was very discriminatory and unfortunate. At a facility that would charge me $300+ for one month, it is a shame that they can not even have representative that uphold the five star quality that they broadcast. Then, Elaine quoted me $310.00, but the manager quoted me a completely higher price. It is really disappointing that Equinox would allow this type of discriminatory behavior.

Excellent gym with all kinds of exercise facilities. Excellent service and facilities. Wonderful availability of all kinds of shampoo creams and body lotions. A wonderful and unforgettable experience that you have to live.

Extremely disappointing experience. Not a good place anymore after Brook Roba left in March. I was initially in touch with Brook Roba in January 2022. He was super warm and gave me a very positive impression of the gym, so when I decided to work out with a personal trainer during the summer Equinox was the name that came to my mind. I scheduled a trial session with a trainer at 9 am. I even brought my credit card with me so that I could purchase a personal training session right after the trial session if things went reasonably well. To my surprise, the trainer didn't show up for the whole session and the staff kept me waiting there for almost an hour until I got really disappointed and left (while I was waiting there the staff told me the trainer was right inside the gym but was "busy with other stuff") Three hours later after I left the manager called, apologized and asked me to reschedule. After I rescheduled they told me I need to pay the monthly fee and become a member first before doing the trial session (definitely not consistent with what they said initially) ... Throughout the process the staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. Overall super disappointing experience!

No!
$200/month, but you will need to confirm on their website cause it changes every year and there are sometimes initiation fees.
Yes
I don’t think they have any senior discounts sadly
Hotel Shattuck
$148.00 a month, plus initiation fee. No sense discount. I would highly recommend bay club over them, if there's one close.to you. 100% better club and have seniors discount.
No jacuzzi, just steam rooms and showers. Yes you have to be a member to use them.
Yes, there are two squat racks, and at least 1, if not 2, bench press systems. Plus two dozen "Nautilus" style machines. And more..
They are called Parker apartments and you can find their rates on their website: https://www.parkerberkeley.com
