carol gicheru
A great place to learn about America’s perspective on World War II. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely visit again
Cheryl Medeiros
I found it very emotional, it was a great source of history.
Hunter
this museum has one of the best values out there and is has an incredible display of artifacts including guns and aircraft
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
We were in the same situation last weekend. We spent 3-4 hours. You could easily double that if you took your time, but I would say 3 hours would be about the minimum. But TOTALLY worth it. Wonderful museum!
Go to this link to start: https://www.nationalww2museum.org/give/other-ways-support-museum/donate-artifact
Yes. You have tag to wear.
There are plenty of artifacts organized by the theater of war. It basically takes you through the events that culminated in the dropping off bombs. It is very detailed and thorough.
We parked in the adjacent museum garage, it was reasonable, were there from noon till closing.
There is no "best". I would recommend you get the two day pass to see it all
It depends on your age and if you want to do the extra movie type stuff. Adults are about 25 dollars and children run about 12 dollars without the extras. They do have discounts for military that bring the price to about 18 dollars. The price is worth it though.
Well, don't give up! They deserve your donation! A salute to your father.
Yes, and videos! So many great memories captured in there and you're able to take them with you. The hand written letters that they have are truly touching
There is a McDonald’s on canal it would be a far walk. You’re surrounded by amazing food don’t eat McDonald’s.
Yes, quite an extensive gift shop. This museum was just ranked #2 in the world behind the Smithsonian in DC. Take the time to go, it is well worth it. Plan on no less than 4 hours.
You can buy a brick or stone with his name on. They only place them at certain times, but if you purchase one, they will let you know when they are placing it and where.
Yes it’s a separate entrance.
There's no disability discount as far as I know. (Husband is an amputee and we were just there last week.) Not sure about free days.
All areas are closed until further notice
Yes I do believe I recall seeing guest riding their scooters there
I'd give them a call! They have TONS of info and could maybe help you
According to their website, is 28.50 usd for adults and 18 for military, seniors and children up to 12. Children below 5 years are free. It is a wonderful museum!
There is! Parking to the left has spaces and across the street on either side of the adjacent museum.
Yes I think they do but not by the exhibit
Yes.
there are also ramps for wheelchairs and elevators for access to floors. it is made to accommodate all manner of veteran with any disability. just call then to arrange for your needs
Yes, I believe they do. Please ask at the front desk. They are very friendly and helpful staff. They enjoy visitors.
I think there menu changes somewhat frequently. We were there recently and they had gumbo, chicken and waffles, salads, and seafood and other southern classics on the menu.
Ticketing agents can look your information up in the membership database at Membership Services desk
I think you mean if they can provide you with a wheelchair. No, you would have to check with the Veteran's Affairs/Hospital or government office to find out where to apply to get one. Hope that helped.
Just went there . It was discounted for vets . Only free fir world war II VETS. my father is one; but he's 98 .
Some of the exhibits are fully immersive with lighting and sound three-dimensional depictions. One building has suspended airplanes from the ceiling that you can look down inside them from cat walks. Not so sure about preschool but there's a little something there for the youngsters.
Yes, they give you a pass. In fact, you have to walk between buildings if you want to see it all. When iI was there in January, they were working on a skywalk.
They are open every day execpt Thanksgiving, Christmas and Mardi Gras.
Yes. The only thing that is a specific time is the movie Beyond All Boundaries. You pay extra for that and it is for a specific time of day.
Calling the museum might be the best choice. Not sure though...
Yes they do. I understand they are in process of building a new display in a new building. I'm sure your donation would be most helpful
I believe they can look up your puchase confirmation at the ticket counter at the museum with name, phone, email, and photo ID.
Yes, there is a full parking garage right next to the museum. Parking rates seemed reasonable, although I can’t remember exactly how much they were last summer.
They're 9am-5pm everyday. Unless you were asking when it first opened.. Then that was June 6, 2000
Unsure. There are numerous open air parking lots in the area.
Website says it's open 9am-5pm today. I would give them a call to make sure
You can always get tickets in the museum.
I was just there on Sunday. You do not have to wear a mask. Not mandatory.
Try emailing the museum directly and asking. They should be able to give you the correct answer.
On July 7, Bart Voorsanger, architect and project designer for the World War II Museum, and Alastair Gordon, an author who has written about architecture for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, will give a talk about the design of the museum.Jul 22, 2019
The museum is still being added on to. They have started an underwater section to the museum about submarines
After a call to the museum, they were not sure and all they knew is that it has been dry docked. Hope this helps.
Only trained service animals are allowed, don't try to bring your pet that's disrespectful.
Go to the front desk at the Museum. And tell the reception. You want to give the foreign money to the museum.
Food and drinks are allowed in to a certain point. None allowed into exhibit areas from what I remember. There is a restaurant inside that is open with social distancing limitations. Guests are issued a yellow clip on item that is supposed to allow you reentry if you go outside.
It's a wonderfully done exhibit. Well worth the support.
They are open, but allowing timed entry. You must buy a ticket online and enter at the specified time.
I saw a few gift shops while visiting Thanksgiving 2020. Fun stuff to buy.
Contact them directly and they will help you
That would be something you would want to contact them directly
There are several exhibits that highlight people who were honored in each section
Yes, normal hours are in effect, but the food and beverage service is not.
I did not notice that name. Too much to see. There may be names of many fallen soldiers referenced.
Yes, masks required. I'm not sure about people with medical conditions. I just saw they are keeping an eye on masks and are asking to put mask on if it's not on.
Not much more than likely. Most medals can be bought at a PX.
Sorry do not know restaurant was closed when we went.
No
There are no signs posted that you cannot have ccl on the premises. However, you would not flaunt it anyway so I dont see why not. There were not metal detectors or anything either that I am aware of.
- WW2 veterans are free (very nice gesture in my opinion) - student admission is $18 - military is $18 - children under 5 are free Children k-12 grade are $18 -Senior is $24.50 -adult is $28.50 Hope this helps!
I stayed in the courtyard by Mariott new orleans downtown. It is very close to the museum. I walked everywhere from there, although the French Quarter is about a 15-minute walk away. I paid like $90 a night for a room with a king bed.
No, because it on Christmas day and everyone should spend time with family than work
I dont believe so. They were closed on Thanksgiving day. So if I was a betting man I would say no
I think a couple miles. Quick cab ride
I would call the Museum and ask the question.
No. Buy tickets at the door. Or, if you buy tickets on-line and pick them up at 'will call' you'll avoid waiting in the ticket line.
I am not sure about that, you might want to contact the Museum.
I had a small one I had on. So didn't need to store, sorry
I would call to make sure
Maybe i Canadian war museum?
I would call the museum itself and ask them, someone there I think would know. Look up the main number for it online at their website. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Try Google
KEEP IT! Pass it down as a family heirloom and a reminder of the sacrifice your family made. My dad had an Army issue .45 that he said that he'd pass down to me, but traded it for some scuba equipment. That still bothers me today. Plus, the German steel is some of the best in the world ( I have a pair of scissors made in Germany from that era and are still the sharpest ones I have). Just saying.....
Yes, the check out the Drury Inn and Suites. Very nice, great price, pool on roof, trolley stops right on side of hotel, so you can catch trolley so you do not have to walk do much in this Louisiana heat. Check out Bookings.com for some great savings!
No pets allowed unless it is a service dog I believe, but you should definetly call in advance.
Wacs waves and all
HANNAH WHAT I WOULD DO IS CALL THE MUSEUM .IM SURE ONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS WOULD BE GLAD TO TAKE A PICTURE FOR YOU.
We didn't and had no problem. Wonderful place to visit.
Yes you do pay for parking. I personally took a Lyft to and from which was fairly easy to do. You could also do the streetcar but it'll be a bit of a walk after you get off. Look on the New Orleans streetcar site for the closest stop from your starting location
I had to pay 60.00 to go on the trip.
I believe veterans have free entry.
It simply stands for "day." So days after the landing would be D+1, etc. It's similar to when someone says "T minus 5 until launch" where the T just means time. D-day was THE day.
https://www.nationalww2museum.org/plan-a-visit-gs
Not sure. I recommend you call the museum directly. They cater amazingly well to veterans..... as they should.
Not sure...sorry
RV Parking Accommodations At this time we do not offer on-campus parking for RV’s, motor homes, or vehicles pulling trailers. Please see below for information regarding off-campus RV parking options. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/visit/plan-your-visit/parking
28 Bucks general admission. 18 for seniors if i remember correctly. 7 bucks to add addition days (up to seven days from original entry)
Yes. It is only closed on Mardi gras day, Thanksgiving day, Christmas Eve and Christmas day
Yes. They are only closed on Mardi Gras day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas day

Call the guest services for ideas.
Sorry, don't have that info. However I would advise you that about 6 hrs are needed to take this museum at all seriously. There are large areas, but many bottle necks that would be difficult to navigate thru. Also it's truly vast. 6 acres. Kids can lost in a heart beat. They don't really seem to offer a best navigation way. Good luck.
Check out their website first. I would suggest you call the number on the website and ask the operator. They were able to answer all my questions.
That has to be done through other means not the museum. https://www.va.gov/records/get-military-service-records/
I am not sure, I would give them a call . The area is upscale I'm sure there is a place to board your pet for the day.
Yea, just try and not flash it around and you should be good
Yep, I took pictures thought the exhibits. Some areas have low lighting, so results may very.
Yes you can for that day only, also you can get in a second day for only $7.00 within 7 days if you have your receipt
Not that I saw, surrounding the entire building on the ground are thousands of bricks all paying tribute to individuals of the war, particular families or companies who were involved. It would take a REALLY big list to name them all
On their website it does say they offer private events but you should contact them directly to make sure. Please see the link below for additional information: https://www.nationalww2museum.org/event-rentals
This is input from general public, primarily former guests at the museum. Contact the museum directly for an accurate response.
Don't know of special event
It's open. . . Its affiliated with the Smithsonian but its still private.
Parking garage across the street and eat of Magazine has all the parking you need. Enjoy your visit.
Some of the venues might be affected, and their hours of operations might be limited that day.
I agree, the website would be the logical choice...
I did not see anyone using one, but I imagine that a lot of war veterans visit, they might just have one!
Unless you get there at open and don't want to see either video, yes you will.
Yes, per my husband. They are no longer in the system.
World War II battles displayed WW II equipment, uniforms and videos
World War II. It goes through the different eras of the war. There are interviews with soldiers that were over there that you can listen to and video clips that you can watch as well. It was very interesting going through seeing all the artifacts on display that the families have donated from their loved ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice in some instances.
Visit museum website and there should be a make a donation icon.
I would just call their phone number listed and speak with customer service or guest and they can guide you to the right person/dept.
I would try emailing the website, calling the # on the website OR.....if you are there, go to the front counter where you purchase the tickets. They would be great at taking care of you! They are very friendly! Hope you make it out; it's awesome, but sad.
Bought at ticket office. Senior discount, military discount, WW2 vets free!
$28.00 for adults. It really takes two days to see everything. Second day would be only $7.
They were having a half price special when I went and as a veteran I only paid $9.40
There are two restaurants. A Canteen, think Cafeteeria and an a fancier, white tablecloth restaurant. We ate at the Restaurant The food and service were both excellent. Prices there were reasonable.
They do. And they let you use them throughout the whole facility
I know they have a few regular wheelchairs available
Adults are $28, WW2 Vets are free and reduced price for students and military.
Call them, I think they may be because they always do special events on holidays
It's only 15 minutes walk. If you have a smart phone you can do a Google search and it can give you walking directions
They do not have scooters to rent, but do provide wheelchairs. No reservation is needed for a wheelchair, just ask when you arrive and they will provide one to you.
They have wheel chairs available for free. I would call first because they only have so many available perhaps u can reserve one. I am not sure about that.😊
The cost of the museum and movie is $33. The movie is about 40 minutes long and WELL WORTH the additional cost. I just saw it last week and was very impressed.
You have to pay. There's no free parking. If you park in the garage don't lose your ticket because it's an automatic $50 fee. You can park in the garage for 3 hours for $20.
Taxis are overpriced, id stick to uber
The Nat.WWII does have a 75th aniversary tour. There is another company that has great WWII tours of Europe as well as a number of Pacific tours. They are called "Beyond Band of Brother". They offer a 75th aniversary tour of Normandy. I have done several tours: Battle of the Bulge, and the Italian campaign. Great tours.
Nothing too close. The french quarter rv resort is around 3 miles from the museum.
If I'm not mistaken, it's in the same building that houses the interactive submarine exhibit. Upstairs one level, on one of the touchscreen consoles. I think they have all of the different uniforms arrayed near it in the glass cases.
You will want to call them about this or look on the website. I'm afraid you won't get a good answer on this forum.
They have their own covered parking, but it does cost. Make sure you have a card or cash to pay. Some machines do not give change if you give cash. It's best to pay by credit or debit.
yes. we did that three weeks ago. it costs another $6.
No remote controlled tanks.
They do not. Just kids, college students, military, senior (65+), and of course its free for WW II veterans.
Adult $27 Senior $23.50 Military (with ID) $17.50 College Student (with ID) $17.50 Child (k-12) $17.50 Child (under 5) $0 WW11 Veteran $0
Yes. There is a garage across the street. Take your ticket instead of leaving it in your car!
yes..lifts.ramps..staff are akso very helpful...superb place to visit...
Yeah. You have to walk outside for the other parts anyway.
Brittney I do not know. Parking is not included. It cost us $8. Depends how long etc. There are several different specials and discounts. Might need to call them. I highly recommend getting tickets in advance we avoided a very long line and wait time...
When you buy your ticket, they will give you a card which you will use later to learn about a character in the war. Don't worry about researching stuff before visiting the museum.
A call to the museum's customer service will point you in the right direction
A call to the museum should give you the answer
I would encourage you to contact them directly for this. I don't think they read these comments very often.
sorry not sure, but if you emailed them and asked that question or if you go there they are very helpful and will answer all your questions
Which naval base are you specifically speaking ? Theres ine in Biloxi MS and there's the naval base near Belle Chase.
I have a friend he had a U 235 6590 vintage weighing 8-10kilos its size 6x6x6. Could you help me whose incharge in the museum i wanted to make an appointment. Tnx
Agreed. Donate it to The WWII Museum.
Call the museum and ask if anyone can assist. The staff and volunteers I encountered were very helpful and knowledgeable.
I did not see a rental office perhaps is best to take one with you very easy access for week chair
Yes, the museum is open daily except for Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
There is a parking garage attached to the museum. There is also public parking around new Orleans
Yes, the Stage Door Canteen
There is a huge area around the building that already has memorial bricks. I am sure new ones are added periodically.
The museum is very large and easily accommodates many people daily. It's not necessary to purchase tickets in advance.
They have lockers outside the entrance. They don't allow backpacks or large backpack like bags into the museum. My partner and I both had messenger style shoulder bags. Strangely, although it was smaller than mine, his was definitely not allowed, and it seemed this was Beccar ir had a more outdoorsy, backpack-y look about it. The woman who was outside the entrance checking bags was kind enough to allow me to keep my bag/purse because I had medicine with me, and were able to put some of my partner's bag's contents into mine. Plan to either locker your bag entirely or take a very small bag if you have something like an inhaler or Epipen that you need to have with you at all times.
Yes. Both are readily available. Highly recommend you do it
Call them and connect with extension #515 during the week
USO is going to be your best bet. Unless your ARMED member is featured at the museum. It wont hurt to ask them
Most matinees featuring the Victory Belles are on Wednesdays at noon, but there are special performances throughout the year. Go to the BB's Stage Door Canteen portion of the museum's website or call the museum directly and they will give you information.
The museum will direct you to auction houses for those types of items you can go to the website and contact the historian or curator to get the specifics.
You should contact the National Archives in St. Louis and request his paperwork so you can figure out what he was awarded and then order those medals.
Not sure we Ubered but it has to i would think. Definitely put a visit on your list!
You need at least half a day. Probably more. There is a lot to see. During a week day is the best. Less of a crowd
The story is told at the museum! Go take a look!
Yes, the museum has a service where they will hold your bags for you, at visitor check-in in the Louisiana Pavilion.
Nope it hasn't
Tickets are 27.00 dollars for adults. 17.50 for kids. 5 and under are free.
