My mom was fine until she was able to vocalize her needs then she was, according to her private physician, criminally medicated to keep her quiet.

I have the unique opportunity to know Pennybyrn from two different points of view: as an employee and as a family member. I have been employed with Pennybyrn for 20 years and am committed to and believe in the mission to demonstrate God's love for the lives we touch. I am a staunch supporter of our team and see the care and devotion that go above and beyond the call of duty here everyday. When my Grandfather (Papaw) developed dementia and we could no longer care for him safely, there was no question where his new home would be. I knew our team would be over qualified, vastly experienced, and full of love for my Papaw. What I didn't realize was that I was now a family member, and my standards of quality for his care would be very personal and demanding. I worried that it would be a conflict of interest for our team and I would be overbearing and picky. He was my Papaw after all and he deserved the very best in every moment of his remaining days. I really don't know why I worried at all. From the moment Papaw walked in the door, he was greeted with hugs and love, and his face lit up with the grin he had not worn in many years. He was immobile, too skinny, sad, and actively dying when he entered Pennybyrn. Within two weeks, Papaw was talking, smiling, eating, and WALKING! He was actively engaging in conversations and ENJOYING himself. We had not seen that side of him in so long that it felt like a miracle had occurred before our eyes. He fell in love with Pennybyrn because our team fell in love with him first. The all-encompassing encouragement, support, daily care, and joy of life he received (and we felt) was everything he needed and far exceeded every expectation I had. I can't thank them enough for the amazing 7 years that Papaw lived out the rest of his life and the memories we will always carry with us. Pennybyrn is the real deal. The aura of love is an almost tangible spirit you feel just coming on campus. I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing team and thankful for the experience of giving my family member the best care there is, bar none.

My grandmother received short term care while recovering from surgery. The care was outstanding and I truly did not have to worry while she was in their care. Thank you to the Pennybyrn staff for making my grandmother feel loved and embraced during her stay.

For my family and me Pennybyrn is the road to hope. All that we had dreaded in our Senior Adult years became a reality nine months ago. A broken hip fall, a need for rehab, a time for healing, memory issues were suddenly facing us, Possibilities for these needs looked grim. Then came a call from Pennybyrn's Social Worker at the last minute telling us they had a place for us. From the time our wife-mother-grandmother and I entered its doors, our dread was eased and hope took over. We experienced far more than we expected. We saw smiles, heard laughter, people having fun at the Bingo table and clapping hands in response to the excellent entertainment provided almost daily, The entire staff, from nursing, maintenance, administrators and our many new friends, opened their hearts to love us, to show compassion, treated us with respect and dignity. "What is happening to us" we wondered. Then we realized we had begun to travel the road to hope - Pennybyrn.

Looking for a place for my uncle who is a leg double amputee and a veteran. He is receiving Medicaid and his VA benefits need to be applied for. Can your facility take him?

Have you called them versus social media?

Is this a good home placement for a 96 year old and is it affordable on a Medicaid, Medicare, social security only income?
