I didn't have one problem with this place. I had the whole place to myself. Potable and non-potable water. Shower, but it was outside.🤷♂️ Campground Host(Steve) was a good guy. I checked in, showed him my reservation, I was good to go. I'll be back.

Top notch! We have visited many campgrounds throughout the country, and this one earned our first five star review. The hosts (Felix and Audrey) are the nicest folks you will ever meet. They obviously take great pride in this campground, and it shows. The sites are clean and nicely spaced, the composting potties are clean and miraculously odor free, the cold water shower is open air and refreshing in April, and the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. Our boys enjoyed room to roam, play capture the flag, collect snake skins, and cook over the campfire. My advice is to take everything the day has to offer, and turn in early for the night— before mosquito o’clock… Well worth the bumpy road in! We will be back!

My husband and I stayed the week at this campground. It was peaceful, quiet and very clean. The hosts Audrey and Felix are both such hard working people that obviously care about the guests that stay here. The sites are cleaned as soon as the guests leave and we could see them working around the camp to keep everything safe and neat. We’ll definitely come back soon!!!!!
Expressive Pets
The area is remote, with the blackest of night skies. The constellations are clearly visible. Lots of coyotes howling, birds singing and a possum that was obsessed with the bush next to my tent. Plenty of solar-friendly spots. Lots of privacy for tent campers. No host; I also had spotty cell/internet service (T-Mobile.) Awesome Dog park close by. 20 miles to Sebring.

Google FWMD, that's Florida Water Management District. On their website search for Hickory Hammock camping. It will most likely show up as an equestrian campground, but there both the same. This is a pretty nice place with good we'll water available and the best part is it's free.
Fred's bar. 5 miles or so.
https://secure.rzda.net/sfwmd/list.cfm You can camp 8 consecutive days per each permit. When I camped there last year at the equestrian campground there was a group who would just get a permit in someone else's name from the group and stayed for a month.
Go on there web page or call get the combination # to the gate. They will ask for your information. Camp safe
