Everything would have gotten a 5 but they are doing renovations. That lobby has those great big windows but with all the construction you can't even use that area. The lodge will be good once you can use it.

My boyfriend and I just went to hang out on the dock by the water, there was a family of geese, grazing, Lily pads, wild flowers a rainbow and beautiful scenery. We watched the clouds roll by and spent some peaceful time engaging in nature and talking! Very nice place to hang out and talk or stroll. Lots of nature and animals!

We chose to celebrate the very special occasion of our daughter’s wedding at the lodge. The lodge is quite nice. The cabins are nice and newly renovated. I would advise those choosing this venue to use caution. Ask lots of detailed questions. We were happy with the setup for the ceremony. They say they can accommodate 160 people. But the reception area is very small and only as they were setting up the day before did they address the fact that you could barely walk between the tables. We were told that tables could be moved to allow more space when the meal was over but it barely accommodates the 140 we had let alone the 160 people they allow for. And the Italian buffet was so disappointing. It was cold and they actually ran out of food for the last tables. We had less people than were planned for in the final count. It was not disclosed to us that the amount of certain items were limited. Again, it was a buffet not a plated meal. You never know how much of a certain food people are going to choose. If we had known we would have had people to serve portions. So embarrassing. (They didn’t run out of alcohol to sell though.) It was definite blemish on an otherwise perfect day.

We enjoyed our stay at Burr Oak very much! It is a very relaxing place. We had very good service, just a couple of times the service wasn't the best. The hot water for tea wasn't hot, some days there weren't napkins or salt and pepper on the breakfast area. And we felt rushed to eat if we went to the restaurant within 40 minutes of closing. But overall it was a very nice stay!
