Not what I expected of the Capitol City Rail station. Was expecting more of a Baltimore Penn Station. In any case, it met my needs. Staff was friendly and Helpful, restrooms clean and stocked and plenty of outdoor covered seating so you could take your mask off.

The last time that I was there a lot earlier was under construction but I'm they have a location for taxi cabs and for people dropping off and picking up.

It's 8.00 a day, prepaid parking. Give yourself a few minutes to pay, especially the first time you do it. You can also use the Paymobile app, using zone 2401.
I am pretty sure it will. But download the Amtrak app and look at the schedule for that day to be certain!!!
You can purchase tickets at the station counter or online at amtrak.com. You could also reserve tickets via phone.
I didn't see any car rental places nearby when I came through the station, but they have a payphone and I saw several people being picked up by taxis. Some car rental agencies (Enterprise comes to mind) will pick you up in your rental car and take you back to their office to complete the rental agreement.
I have to be at the station during closed hours to catch a 4:30am train (opens @ 5:30am), what is the procedure to follow when the inside is closed? Thanks for any help

There's a parking lot in front of the building, or if you know the person you are picking up is already there, you can drive to the front of the building to pick them up.

Main Street station is definitely closer to the airport but Staples Mill station is very barely an additional 6 min drive to airport
Yes. Just be aware i5f your surroundings, like you would do anywhere. Park and then go inside.

Yes I have parked there about 2 times it was okay
The station, ticketing station and quiktrak kiosks are all open 24 hrs. There is a lot of onsite parking. Station is well lit and easily accessible from various parts of the city.
