Would be nice if they would open the office back up like everyone else has. Trying to deal with confusing and complicated issues with disability over the phone is ridiculous. Playing phone and paperwork tag. Horrible communication, multiple call backs never recieved. Some things you need to be able to hash out face to face but instead they make a difficult thing even more difficult for disabled people and their caregivers. Antiquated system is designed for you to mess up. Can't get any straight answers.

My sons social security card was lost. I called to see what I needed to do to replace it and the lady was so rude and unprofessional. I clearly was not understanding what she was saying and instead of helping me through it she stated “I literally just told you”. Then when I was finally able to get the paperwork mailed in with no help of the staff I called after a week to see if they received it. Another rude staff answered and said that she wasn’t in the office how was she supposed to know if the mail was received. So I asked who I would contact to get the information because someone clearly needs to get the mail process documents… the lady said she wasn’t understanding so I explained again. She said that I needed her to look on the computer and see if it was issued and I said sure, and she said “you told me not to do that” in a rude tone and told me I was being very difficult. Hate to break it to the staff but the general public does not work at SS and may not know how it works! You may need to assist people and explain things more then once, may need to listen and politely suggest some options, and not be so rude!!!!

Called for an appointment, someone answered the phone not stating there name or who they represent, just a your not important low tone "hello". I get better phone from the local pizza shop. Made a phone correspondence appointment with no phone call on scheduled date/time ? Very concerning.

Phone system was a run around as you have to have full 5 digit extension or first and last name. Forms they send have only last with Mr/Miss/Ms and no extension. Ended up calling national number and after waiting for 15 minutes got someone who said no application on record, even though I had 2 different as acknowledgment in my hand. So whole process over again :(

No and I got there later in afternoon. I was 5th in the series and was out on appx 10 mins

Good luck! Applied in March, approved in May and still waiting 🙄 Calling for updates and going in to see what you need to hand in is honestly your best bet. And be prepared to wait 2 hours to be seen if you go in. If you call they may not call back.
I would bring a few forms of legit ID...and some form of proof of residency... address...but you don't need an appt...just check hours on google!
