Preposterous homeless shelter in a high rent area with very poor resources, expired foods are commonly being served, dirty linen randomly gets donated, hoarder clutter in the dorms, and the poorly paid staff are typically very abusive. There importing and exporting homeless people when it’s clearly the wrong support system and the nys office of temporarily disability and assistance & the department of health still hasn’t closed this abusive pay to stay homeless shelter. Good help is hard to find considering the vast majority of the staff can’t help themselves & there supposedly enabling homelessness.

Tried to donate my spouse's size 3x clothing and they make you jump thru hoops.
Bewildered Goblin
When I volunteered here a year ago, the social workers were overworked (one worked 60+ hours a week), the premises were in shabby conditions, and the monitors had authority complexes. A 20ish year old woman said to me "it's kind of cool. I'm so young but I get to be in charge of all these people." Monitors would write people up over the most benign things. Tenants would have a mild argument about something that could be easily resolved with some understanding and empathy, but instead they would write them up, knowing it might put them back on the street. Some tenants said that they just tried to stay away until right at curfew because they didn't want to risk getting in trouble by accident. I know of one tenant in particular who ended up being homeless again because he had a job. On top of requiring the tenants give 30 percent of their income to the shelter, making it harder for them to save up for their own apartment, they were also required by social services to come in regularly for interviews. They wouldn't work around this gentleman's work schedule and he was forced to choose between getting fired for taking time off to regularly go to interviews or to get kicked out for missing his appointments. He chose to remain employed. I believe the management has changed since then, so hopefully it's improved, but my experience here really opened my eyes to some of the struggles you usually don't consider people without homes having to overcome.

I dont know the answer but when I was younger a fresh kill deer used to be donated to nursing homes. I know Johnny #5 seems offended but venison is a good source of meat. No GMOs, no antibiotic or hormones. You should check with the health department.
Thay did a great job provide me a apartment
Call ahead, if S.O.S isn't accepting donations, salvation army probably is, but again, call ahead to confirm.
