The Witness Tree Junction Trailhead (aka Rochelle parking area) touches the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail. The State Trail is paved, but stray from the paved trail just a bit and you will find the trails into the Preserve. The white blaze trail (Susan Wright trail) has a few short boardwalk areas and serves as a connector to the other trails. All of the tails in the preserve are well kept, cover beautiful terrain, are reasonably short, and can get marshy after a rain. The blue blaze trail (Kathy Cantwell trail) leads to the Prairie Creek Conservation Burial Cemetery.

Wonderful hiking area

Good walking trail. Lots of pine but small pockets of different cyprus hammocks. Lots of wildlife including predators. Saw a bobcat on the yellow blaze.

Walked the full white (Wright) and red/purple trail down to the picnic table at the creek through the cypress swamp. While I had hoped for more birds, we saw ducks, an armadillo, and two snakes (early December). We found the trail marked well enough, but it helps to have a photo of the trails with you, or use Traillink. Walking the planks in the wet areas is enjoyable - they use 3-planks across in the really wet areas, so you don't have to have super balance.
