We hear everyday how well the economy is doing and the tax breaks are helping Americans. My wife and I got a wake up call recently when we stopped by Grace marketplace to drop off a few clothing items. We witnessed hundreds of Americans, women, children and men living in tents and basically living hand to mouth with little or nothing. As a 77 year old American having served 22 years in the military, I was embarrassed to see the condition these Americans were experiencing in our country. Heartbreaking is an understatement and some of individuals were obviously veterans too.

Leon and Eric are amazing and actually help, but the place is horrible conditions, food is ok, only problem is if people are causing you problems or threatening you they don't do anything about it , a staff member watched a person threatening us and just watched and laughed very unprofessional and some were rude

They helped my family i thought they went above and beyond they do help with housing placement just call ahead of time and get a apt if you can
Yes you can get help, and they will help you get an ID CARD.
Lunch is served 11:30 am Mon thru Friday
Do u know ernie hodson jr lee someone said block put it says mailbox not set up yet
I've have lived out there and most of the staff is there to help most are for a pay check. It's really not safe at all. The restrooms are very unsanitary to shower or sit on the toilet. I was scared of catching a disease from it being so nasty. The bed area is also nasty I had to beg for them to clean the ceiling fan. Until they run the facility better I don't think it's a place for someone who has fallen in life and trying to get back on there feet. It's made for sexual predators and people on drugs. There is no helping people that already working and need help. My personal experience
Yes
As far as I know and have heard there are no hoops to jump. Just someone who needs help. You may have to stay outside if they are full, so be prepared... There is food there too for those who need it. It was established to help the homeless and jobless of the community.
Not to my knowledge. You should definitely call up there. Grace market place in Gainesville, FL.
Monday: 10 AM - 2 PM Tuesday - Friday: 1 PM - 5 PM
I would imagine it would be about the same as teens working, they would need aome.type of work permit issued by the state if they are under 18 and in school.
Yes .s. s. But they can direct you to all you need
Thank you for answering my question Dustin p. My next question would be how do we go about getting her there do you pick them up from the prison system do they have to get a ride to you? Also every time I've tried calling up there it doesn't matter what services ask for I keep getting answering message machines but no one's ever calling me back. I leave my phone number my name and again I don't get any calls back. So do you have someone specific that I can call and a name that someone I can talk to in reference to helping this young lady out because the time is running down. Thank you. Also how would I get her from the prison system to you all? Myself I'm on disability on a walker and I'm not driving right now so I can't do it do you have someone that can help her to get there?
You have to go there and talk to them Every situation is different, and yes they do help.
Some have tents outside the main gate
Could but probably won't
Go to Grace marketplace and do a intake. Get yourself into the system and then ADVOCATE for yourself and that baby. They will help you with clothing, food assistance, housing and an ID. Also Trinity Methodist Church downtown help on Tuesdays get an ID card. The main thing is that you have to ask all the questions and do most of the work yourself but as long as you're willing to work and get it done they're there to help! You have to advocate for yourself!
Probably
I agree with that. I saw that while I was there also last year.
60 minutes walking from the Alachua County Libaray. 34 minutes on bus RTS 26 or bus 25. 15 minutes in a car.
This
You have to get in contact with one the workers like Rachel or Tracey or Matt orberic or Casey or Tracey or tosha or Leon they have a few and they can help you depending your situation otherwise just take your ss, birth certificate and proof address or mail with address to dmv
Did u find him
Drive in to the gate m-f and talk to the attendant. They're very helpful..
They are very busy out on the grounds. Actually going there is a faster way to receive services. Ask for Leon he is awesome nd will do everything he can for you. What he can't do will point you the right way
Do u know ernie hodson lee Jr
Yes to meals
Yes
Better off going to St Francis and getting help downtown Gainesville with that!
They have Bad clothing choices Nd the items are wore out better off going to good will or salvation army
They didn't have any when I was there. They had a pavilion which was on a first come basis.
Where my husband and I are looking for a overnight shelter
Yes
Yes, it's easy to find, right off 39th Ave. Here's the link to their website; http://www.gracemarketplace.org/. They are a real good organization and have free laundry, regular meals, free showers, a clothes bank, and the city bus picks up a block down the road. Here's the link to the bus website; https://go-rts.com/ They will help you with employment as they are part of the community. The best part is that the University of Florida provides a health clinic there on Fridays at no charge. There's a woman's respite area that's exclusively for women. There's more, but you'll see! They have job fairs that local businesses come looking to find help and with the intention to be help.
Grace Marketplace has shelter but it's on a first-come first-serve basis so please be here before 5 p.m. you can also have a tent area but you must provide your own tent and get a blue card from the Sheriff's Office
Well first of all hun oh, they don't take children at all. Second of all it is highly gang infested drug-infested and very violent. I do not recommend it especially for families. If it's just you and your child, you can possibly stay or even if you have the child's father Google St Francis House they may be able to help you
Go speak to one of the advocates as soon as you walk in it's the Green Building
They have the resources and ability, provided you meet the criteria you should qualify for a variety of programs.
Yes, but you need to sign up for job services at the career source Center and Grace Marketplace can refer you to Meridian for psych help and medication. They are there for assistance and will help you.
You don't need one
If you're homeless I don't see why not... And you are residing here now.
Horrible place for children. Bad place for women.
