I have lived in the park for six years and all of the ponds are well maintained. The fish and other critters need the algae and pond weeds to survive. When all of the algae is killed it settles to the bottom depriving the water of oxygen. Look at the results of the Piney Point Disaster this past year, millions of sea creatures died, from the smallest to the largest. The park staff understands the biological needs of the ponds, they have explained to me that weed killer also harms the critters, like Agent Orange harmed the veterans of Viet Nam. I know that the staff is very busy, this is grass growing season, it is hard for them to stop and explain everything to you but if you ask your questions to the office manager, Kellie, she is always pleasant and willing to help you.

Best place in area if you do have dogs, Manatee RV is dog friendly for sure,,
You have to call and make a sure there are spots open, depending on what month.
You can lease for as much as a year & I think the cost is $480 or 85 a month + electric on some sites. There appear to be sites available but office could tell you for sure.
No it is not a family resort. You need to be 50 plus
