I called HOF over 10 times in a year period for help with a family law issue, and they wouldn't help me. I called today (1/31/20) because their website shows they DO help with those things. Their receptionist told me they need to change it because it's false. So they claim to help people for certain issues when they really don't.

They do not care, no matter how desperate you are they only help certain people and send you a letter denying you after spending hours, gas, time asking for help. Its ridiculous.

Heart Florida Legal Aid Society only handles Family Law, Domestic Violence, and limited immigration matters. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with criminal matters.
My landlord is a horder.when i threw a table top away that was mine he come down and started yelling in our window and when we went out he said we better put that back on my porch..i told him i dont want it sohe can get it and take it he started yalling at us and got a hammer out and procided to take our door off the hinges..i called police..he left before they got there and he gave them trouble too..he said its not going to get prett fown hersnd is now putting stuff on myporch a door some shelves and put raw meat in our trash..he is threating us with more to come. can you help my..i have taken pictures each time hebrings stuff plus whathe has been bring while ive lived here

If you left a message on mondays wednesday and thursday between 8am-11am or 1-3 like the message says then they will call you back in. Couple days. You can also go in office and ask for the paper work to take home and fill out. Once you bring it back it they will call you to set up an hour appt to go over what services your applying for. I applied for custody issues on both cases and they sent me a letter weeks later denying me for both cases as they do not have funds. Total waste of time and hopes squashed. Unless your applying for divorce they dont have time for you.

Grant restrictions prohibit Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society from representing respondents in domestic violence injunction matters except for instances where there are cross-petitions (i.e. Client A has an temporary injunction against Opposing Party B but Opposing Party B also has a temporary injunction against Client A.)
