20 mins in the scan if it's an MRI. It will depend on your size and if you're bandaged because I couldn't get the scan done due to my wrappings from ace bandages for a possible torn Achilles heel tendon for my foot. They have several machines for different body parts. No prep is needed only if they told you that, like when a doctor wants to draw blood and asks not to eat or drink for 24hrs. Wear clothing with no metal. That's your only prerequisite. Good luck!
