Hidden gem of a state park with easy mountain biking trails, kayak rentals, camping, day use area, and a beach. Small fee to enter. Totally worth it.

Best park to take the kids to swim. Gorgeous views to paint plein air.

My review is based on tent camping. We knew going in no water or electric. Campsite very spacious and ate a are adequately spaced apart. Campsite in the whistling pines includes lantern holder, a huge sturdy picnic table and a really large fire pit with a folding grill. Campsite 19 has a beautiful view of the lake with a trail down to lake. The stars through the pine trees at night was beautiful! Bathrooms and showers are a short distance. We camped overnight on September 21st, with the lake at an elevation of 2600 ft, the temperature in the middle of the night was about 45 degrees and 75 degrees during day. Gas and groceries 30 mins away. We are looking forward to coming back!! Stunning!

I grew up camping here. This place holds my fondest memories with my grandparents and my family. We have met some of the best people here. It is beautiful with plenty to do. The campsites are clean and large and private enough. The bathhouses are really well maintained. The camp hosts are the nicest people. You can swim, hike, ride bikes, go fishing. I brought my children here to keep the tradition going! My youngest son and I got the paddle boat out and went all over the lake. My oldest is really into fishing, and he was able to catch a few nice sized bass from the boat. However, as a kid, my favorite part of Lake Sherwood was the fishing access from the campsites. I'd wake up in the mornings and fish the banks from sun up to sun down. The lake seems to have been taken over by some sort of slimy lilly pad... there's absolutely no bank access for fishing anymore. Speaking with one of the camp hosts, they mentioned they've unsuccessfully tried getting the problem fixed. It was pretty disappointing not being able to fish with the smaller kiddos from the bank, but still, it's a place you want to visit!!

Warm days and cool nights but I think the park closed Labor Day..be sure to check before going
Yes, you can. Recreation.gov handles reservations.
They aren't very expensive...actually pretty reasonable, but I can't accurately remember how much. I'm sorry!
Not sure went during summer.
