Ballard Designs shipping costs makes it cost prohibitive to order an item for your home if you are not absolutely certain you will keep it. Colors can be misleading in catalogs and online. A photo of a rug appeared to be a warm beige but was actually a gray-beige and did not work with my decor. It costs me over $51 to return a 5 x 8 rug. They say it is clearly stated that the customer will pay the shipping costs but I thought I would only incur $8.95 to return the rug. This policy was not clear to me or I would not have ordered in the first place. I will not be ordering anything else from Ballard Designs and I will share my experience with my friends.

The Madeline Mirror they sell is a fun house mirror. It comes extremely warped with a terribly distorted reflection. I exchanged this item thinking it was a one off defect, but I received another of the same mirror with the exact same issue. Very disappointed… for the price you’d not expect this type of poor quality.

DO NOT ORDER CUSTOM FURNITURE RIGHT NOW. My sales person was great and helped us picked out beautiful pieces for two rooms for our new home. When ordered we were offered a date prior to Thanksgiving. We hosted Christmas and it was important that we at least had the furniture by then. Having just been told they would arrive next week, I just received an email that the order is due to be shipped in February. In December I was told the fabric was already cut . We are livid and feel like the logistics disruption did not just happen and Ballard’s needs to be more truthful about their inability to deliver. It makes the sales people and the customers suffer. I first went to Ethan Allen and they were upfront about delivery and for that I would sooner return there once all of the pandemic stuff is over.
