Great place to go wakeboarding or any kind of water sport! An also a great place to go swimming!

This place is like heaven on earth if that exists anymore. The water below the spillway is the warmest clearest water i have ever been in. Getting in a kayak or a raft and floating down the river is so relaxing. Love the campsites too very clean and cheap.

I hiked the terrace mt trail from the ice mine(approx. mile 12) to shelter 1(approx. mile 18.5) mid June. The trail was extremely overgrown and in poor maintenance. Many down trees, confusing intersections, and markings made the hike a little challenging but the end result at the shelter near the water of lake Raystown well worth the effort. I saw 1 rattle snake at about mile 2.5 on the way in. It was right beside the trail but did not rattle and was black as night.

Love it. Great place to camp and go floating in the river with the family

Questions & Answers

Can you do some primative (off grid) camping?

I personally have. You can come in from Hawns Bridge road, park at the gate and walk down the trail that goes to the causeway. There is a lightly worn trail from there that follows the East bank if the lake. I have hunted there as well. Never seen another person out there.
