My car's brakes started making a strange sound and I knew it was time to get them checked out. I took my car into Star Automotive where they fixed it in no time. The brake repair service was efficient and their prices were very fair. I love that Walt is friendly, knowledgeable, and always able to fix my car quickly. I don't know what I would do without the Star Automotive team!

They did an excellent job preparing an area for maintenance/oil change to my Jeep. They even use a proper collection and oil storage routine, sending the used product for recycling after completing the oil change. I would suggest them to anyone seeking a trustworthy auto shop near.

How long should your car repair service take?

Forrester Wester | Apr 14, 2022
Star automotive LLC | Apr 14, 2022

Always bear in mind that the amount of time you’re going to have to wait for your car to be repaired depends entirely on what you’re having done. If you’re talking about a simple procedure like an oil change, tire rotation, or tire replacement, you’re looking at anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for the actual work to be completed. If you’re having more extensive work done, like having your brakes worked on or your air conditioning repaired, it may take several hours. And if you’ve brought your vehicle in with a laundry list of requests, or for extensive work, you could be waiting all day – or longer. Yet another unknown wait time factor depends on the condition of your car, which is going to factor greatly into the ability of the mechanic to get the job done in a timely manner.

What is a vehicle inspection?

Colby Villarreal | Apr 14, 2022
Star automotive LLC | Apr 14, 2022

A vehicle inspection is a process in which a vehicle is inspected to ensure it meets all safety and emission regulations. Every state has its own regulations about what is required to pass the inspection. Most notably, states require them to ensure safety, ensure proper emissions and check the vehicle identification number(VIN). A safety inspection typically checks for essential components of the vehicle to verify proper function, including the headlights, taillights, wheel alignment, steering, seatbelts, brakes and tires. Emissions testing essentially checks for pollutant emissions. A car may fail an emissions test due to faulty injectors, oxygen sensors or other parts related to emissions. If a car fails inspection, then a report is typically provided that outlines the reasons it failed, and the owner can make the changes and schedule another vehicle inspection.

What do I need to know about brake repair?

Gonzalo Alvarez | Apr 14, 2022
Star automotive LLC | Apr 14, 2022

What are the things to check in brake repair?

Charlotte Moore | Sep 11, 2021
Carson Kelley | Sep 11, 2021

When doing an inspection you look for the thickness of the brake lining on either shoe or pad brakes. The front brakes do 70–80% of the stopping of a vehicle. So naturally, they wear out first. You also look for any leaking of brake hydraulic fluid as well. You need to check wheel cylinders, hoses, metal lines, and master cylinders. Especially where the rod goes into the master cylinder, you look for any moisture from fluid leaking past the seals. Also on the inspection, you need to see if any grease is being thrown out of the rubber CV joints. They sometimes get a leak because of developing a hole in the CV boot. You also check for oil leaking from the rear axle seals onto the rear brake shoes. That's all part of a brake inspection.

When a lead acid battery is fully charged the electrolyte is sulfuric acid with a freezing point of below -40°C. When the battery is fully discharged all the sulfate ions are consumed and the electrolyte is mostly pure water with a freezing point of zero degrees C. So it is not unusual to go out to a car that has a dead battery in the mid winter and find that the battery won't accept any charge current. It needs to warm up before it can be charged, and then it won't freeze again until it is discharged.

Yes, it matters. Oil is incredibly important to keeping your car running safely and smoothly, and at Star Automotive we take oil changes pretty seriously. Not changing your oil on a regular basis can significantly reduce your engine’s performance and lead to reduced fuel efficiency. Engine oil acts as a reservoir for all kinds of by-products that form when fuel burns, including soot, sludge, water, and acidic material, as well as unburned and partially burned fuel. At the same time, oil becomes less effective over time. Refreshing the oil on a regular basis helps keep your engine in great condition.

This helps your engine operate quietly and efficiently.Oil removes heat: Motor oils carry heat away from important areas, like from around the piston rings, and redistribute it around the engine.Oil prevents corrosion and rust: Motor oils help protect your hard-working engine components from corrosion beyond the normal oil change interval.

Synthetic oil can withstand higher temperatures, resist breakdown better than conventional oil, and lasts longer. This type of oil can even protect your engine in some situations. During short trips, conventional motor oil may not become hot enough to burn off impurities and moisture. If you use your vehicle frequently for hauling heavy things, then synthetic oil is also your best option. Synthetic car oil can last longer and is more resistant to extreme conditions.
